Just realised it's very possible to never encounter Melina

I'm running through New Game+ and noticed I can't get into Leyndell because I don't have enough Great Runes....... even though I got all of them

...I checked the wiki, I need to visit Roundtable Hold first, which needs Melina; whom I haven't met even though I have touched lots of grass. She does spawn at quite a few early Sites of Grace so ya, by pure luck I can see people missing her.

...and beating Draconic Tree Sentinel and Radahn without ever leveling up, either.

What happens if I reject Melina?
You have to accept Melina's accord in Elden Ring if you want to level up and get your horse. While suspicion is wise in a FromSoftware game, you really have to say yes here. Because without her, you'll be cut off from some crucial tools.

In the north of Liurnia is a dungeon "Ruin-strewn Precipice" which will take you to the secret elevator to Altus.
2 Great Runes for Leyndell. Thats it.

I've always taken the cliff side

But in Leyndell, after Draconic Tree Spirit is a magic seal that always says "you need more Great Runes" unless you visit Roundtable Hold


edit: might be possible via fia's teleporter, but not sure if you can get there without visiting the Hold either

edit2: Might also be possible from the Divine Bridge smoke cloud if there's a way to parkour down

i think i remember people discussing this at launch
if i remember correctly its imposible to complete the game without her if you dont use glitches like wrongwraps and such
dunno really its been too long since i read it

the dev seemed to program her spawning by checking off CERTAIN checkpoints but not all checkpoints. so if you just skip past those checkpoints and never go back(which admittedly due to the design once you check off an area their isn't a reason to go back), you will just never trigger the spawn.
