Using Torrent against Elden Beast
As many people already pointed out, it seems like the Elden Beast fight was designed so you could use Torrent to fight it, but for some reason the game doesn't let you use Torrent here.

Maybe allowing Torrent to the fight broke something in the game, and the devs couldn't figure out how to fix that before the game released? I'm not sure why else would Torrent not be usable in this fight...

I know the game has been out for a while already, so I understand if this won't happen, but it would be so cool to be able to use Torrent in this fight...

I really think so considering how lazy the team was in this game for the sake of ''muh open world sells''

yes

Torrent would die immediately and you have to use a flask to revive it. Then it would die immediately again, so no, bad idea.

I think half the point of the last fight is to try and make you feel small and insignificant by using scale against you. Unfortunately the resulting set up and fight felt more cheap and anticlimactic to me.

For the record I really enjoyed 90% of this game. The encounter design of the radagon/beast fight felt like serious departure from the formula they had spent the previous 50-100 hours establishing and culminated in a let down.

I didn't think about that... also...

That could work, I guess, but maybe they could give Torrent something else, like give him one or 2 extra mechanics that work only in this fight, in order to make it more bearable, and more epic at the same time (maybe even as a way to show Torrent's true power?... which is something I completely made up, gotta be honest, but would have been cool maybe, lol... idk)

you don't necessarily need it all the time, just to get closer when the boss turns into a walk simulator and go to the other edge of the arena for the 100th time

What part of the fight would require torrent? The following orb that you can just easily run away from, the falling stars which just require you to run in a circle for 5 seconds, the circles that just require you to hop out of, or the big telegraphed slow mo sweeps that half the time go over your head?

My theory: They never found a way to allow you in riding Torrent for phase 2. Because keep in mind, when you enter the boss arena, you fight Radagon with no way to summon Torrent. But when phase 2 starts with Elden Beast, you're still in the same fight per say, so due to complications and not willing to figure out a way to code in Torrent, they left it as is.

Which is a real shame because fighting Elden Beast as a melee makes me dread the fight. Not due to difficulty but just because of how anticlimactic it is running after it.

Without muh horsey that fight is outright annoying. Speaking from the bottom of my heart, this bs feels like a Mosquitoes battle under Blighttown...without my trusty chaos composite bow.

I mean yeah, the fight as it is now does not require Torrent, but some of the boss' moves do seem like they were designed so they could be avoided with Torrent's help (for example when he makes the ring that encloses on you, and you have to run away from inside to the outside), or when the boss just runs/swims away from you for so freaking many times...

The point is, the fight right now is balanced so you can do it without Torrent, but the design of the boss looks like it maybe was originaly intended to be fought with Torrent, and if they could have let us use Torrent, then they could have rebalanced Elden Beast so it would be harder to fight on foot.

Again, this is just speculating that they wanted to put Torrent in but they couldn't...
They might have as well NOT have intended for that at all, but the way the boss is designed makes me think otherwise.

No, the part where it acts like your standard Fortnite/Halo player who just received the most insignificant amount of damage and runs halfway across the map to get away from you only for you to finally catch up and them do it again ad nauseam

Also that is just wrong, half the time Elden Stars is faster than your sprint speed and is accompanied by the ranged sword attack causing you to slow down and roll.

Actually this is pretty likely. Forget which YouTuber I watched, but using cheats to go out of bounds you can find the fog wall, the glowing light past the thorns, the summoning pool totem, and Radagon's arena all still loaded in. For the most part, Torrent's summoning seems tied to location rather than how the spirit summoning works where the stone dildo totem has a radius around it that allows summoning.

Best boss ever! I love chasing this magic slug around the arena! Run up to him, and he sails across the entire massive fight zone for me to have to spend another 15 seconds closing the distance, land 3 or 4 hits, and repeat the process. Also, a health pool Olympians wouldn't swim in. Guy is a massive damage sponge that flees around the arena far too often. Like Astel, only worse.

They're adding this in the patch today.
