Why this game is called Elden Ring?
I know it is how one of attacks Elden Beast calls but it is like calling dark souls 2 a ''Cursed Orb'' just because nashadra can cast it, makes no sense.

The Elden Ring, as was already stated, is a construct representing power, of various sorts.

In the abstract? The ring is little more than a symbol, but a symbol to unseen masses, just as a king wielding a ceremonial sword is a symbol often inspiring valor, and in doing so he can command those willing to follow that symbol. Those who wield fragments are a lords with great power, the one who wields all the fragments is a legend who has felled the others. You could interpret that individual as a legendary emporer, a prophet, a saint, or a revolutionary.

Now what that symbol, the Elden Ring, represents given its distance association might not so obvious...

This is how Miyazaki writes souls games. Everything is symbolism or metaphor, its just a matter of figuring out what specifically it means in a more realistic perspective. And everything has meaning, there are no accidents.

The Elden Ring is the magical contruct that controls the physical rules of the world.

The fact one of the beasts attacks shares a name isn't important.

Not to mention they removed rings from the game in the only game that has ring in the name.

I can't tell if this is bait, or someone who's genuinely misunderstanding it.

Throughout history, rings have been used been used to symbolise everything from devotion, fidelity and eternity, to the representation of a deity.

Also as useful bondage tools.

It isn't a physical ring. I prefer the term 'Elden MacGuffin'.

When an outer god and an empyrean love each other very much, an elden ring is forged.

the game was originally meant to be shipped with a benis ring that vibrates whenever you get hit

The Elden Ring is actually a collection of many rings (or circles for simplicty). Each ring is actually a complete great rune. The word ring is actually metaphorical and they are actually runes. Each great rune represents a principal in the world the game takes place.

For example, the Rune of Destined Death. Protected by the boss Maliketh. Marika shattered the complete Elden Ring and separated the rune of destined death away. Thats why no one trully dies in the lands between (presumably beyond).

The collection of rings and the game iconic yellow symbol (used in the icon or the case for the game) is not the complete elden ring. The complete one is depicted on the wall behind Maliketh's boss area.

I honestly thought it should have been the Elden Rune. Given how EVERYTHING else is runes, great runes, etc. Elden Rune just makes too much sense.

Well! Word on the street is that the original name of the game was Aldin Ring, you know, like, Aldia and Aldrich, because you know how FromSoft likes to reuse material, I mean there's only been like 16,000 threads about it, but anyway, the original name was Aldin Ring and it's a little too close to Aldi's, you know, that German grocery store that Trader Joe's bought, but anyway Aldi's was gonna sue because the name is so similar so they had to change the name from Aldin Ring to Elden Ring.

That's what I heard anyway.

The game was originally going to be called: "Onion Ring" but they changed it to seem more professional.
