3rd worst 3D game next to Forces and 06

Ouranos Island literally upped the grind by 100x like there was a paywall I had to overcome.

Maps I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about
- Three maps pretty much have the same theme
Kronos and Rhea are literally the same map. Ouranos is split from them. 3/5 islands are the same

Cyberspace levels have different physics
- Drifting levels aren't even built correctly accounting to Sonic's physics

It's a crime that S Rank 1-2 was the only challenge (and enjoyable) one to get

Downgraded graphics so that the game could run on Switch
- Aggressive pop-in on all platform

Fishing mini-game grindier than F2P gachas
- 32*4=128 runs of mind-numbingly slow fishing to 100% it all, noooo thanks!

Level ups one at a time and Lv99 for each upgrade
- Grindy like a F2P gacha

Jank as ♥♥♥♥ boss battles besides the final one

Jank as ♥♥♥♥ terrain climbing and physics interactions

Sleeper story
- Forced game references
- Forced loss of Chaos emeralds every island
- Only meat is the beginning and towards the end
- ^ I literally don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about each of the three ghost characters' sad feelings about the Chao history


*Overall unpolished*
Music and most of the CyberSpace levels are the only real merit

^ Unleashed (all of it) and Generations were better. This game reeks of piss poor management and rushed development more than Forces

Heck, I'd easily argue that Sonic right now is in a better place than Pokémon has been in recent years.

We just got an open world game that a lot of people enjoy, is mostly bug free and has a lot of good things going for it, and while Origins was definitely a very mixed bag in terms of being a remastered collection, I can tell that they at least tried to provide the definitive versions of these games with a plethora of QoL features and extra content; unlike Pokémon, where the recent remakes of Diamond and Pearl didn't even include a second button on the watch like Platinum had back in 2009.

Basically, the state of Pokémon right now is more or less the state that Sonic was in back in 2014 when Rise of Lyric came out.

Unfortunately, OP is 100% correct about the vast majority of things said, and what little isn't like that is more "well, that's a bit hyperbolic/subjective..." rather than outright wrong.

I agree with most of the points, but i dont think it warrants it being 3rd worst game. As for the story, I disliked how cheesy it was, but i'd rather it actually have a story as opposed to whatever started with unleashed/colors and continued afterwards. The best story we have gotten in the last 15 years was black knight in terms of character development and lessons learned and whatnot. Sonic isnt really know for their stories, and sonic colors is to thank for that because people overly praised the game so much (even though it was trash) that they realized they could just make a game with a crappy story and dialogue and still sell.

I also dislike how the whole game felt more like some tumblr teens oc of sonic rather than an official sonic story/game. The new enemies and ghost girl thing were so edgy and out of place, as well as the music for end of island bosses.

Idk who will agree with me but I think sega hit the sweet spot with sonic games in the story book games. The stories were decent-good, the games not too serious and not too light nor were they too corny, music on point (especially secret rings, some of the best tracks in the entire series), solid/unique world design by sonic standards, the fact that the games were ENTIRELY in 3d, etc. Now i like the gameplay of the two games but ik most people didnt so I wont include it in the list. Sega should just continue the storybook series and use a mix of the frontiers/unleashed gameplay. Frontiers was a step in the right direction considering the 3d games since unleashed have been ♥♥♥♥ with the only upside being the 3d levels in generations (rest of the game was lacking).

Unleashed made an effort to tell a story and was fairly serious throughout. I'm not thrilled by the narrative, but it at least tried to do something.
Colors has a lazy excuse plot, basically doing the bare minimum to justify the setting and power-ups and little else, and then just tells dumb jokes and makes meta references for almost every cutscene.
They're not even remotely comparable. Unleashed's story is like a step away from what Adventure 1 and 2, Shadow, and Sonic 06 were doing, whereas Colors is almost explicitly trying to avoid being anything like any of those games.

Probably by people who didn't actually play Unleashed and just jump on the werehog hate wagon or lump it in with colors because of boost.

Unleashed story is good and was pretty much the last great finale we've had in a long time

Because of its demographic and the "console" it was on, of course its silly and bright story was successful on the Wii.

I probably would considering the lot of good things I've heard about Black Knight but too bad its stuck being built around Wii motion controls. At least with Colors I could buy a Wii copy and play it on pc with a controller and mods.

It seems Takashi Iizuka he has some sort of Green Hill Zone fetish. Modern for instance as an example even these days nowadays Sonic the Hedgehog computer games/video games are treated like movies of where you could select language and characters keep talking. Which possibly stopped being funny thing and fans are saying that it's enough. Game development of Sonic games cannot be without no compromise like during development of Sonic '06.

Imagine of what if Tiara Boobowski might be in such original Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie instead of Knuckles the Echidna? Possibly remake/reboot of Sonic the Hedgehog could be about Sally Acorn. Miss Kate Soucie she did a great job piece of work she’s the best voice actress providing fantastic voice roles of both Sally Acorn and Nicole the Holo-Lynx.

Maybe I'm missing context you're referring to but they've always been the same person and "Eggman" is just Robotnik adopting Sonic's mockery as his own title.
