No Borderless window option?
It's a great port but for some reason vsync always (despite numerous attempts) locks my framerate to 48 fps on 120hz monitor with all games on my pcBorderless window always stops this.

Even though it says Fullscreen it ends up as borderless windowed for me. Alt-tabbing brings up my taskbar over the game, etc.

D3D12 only has borderless window mode. Fullscreen Exclusive is obsolete.

Increase the backbuffers in the swapchain if you want higher framerates. Special K can do this.

The reason I have this problem with graphically intensive games is not that I get screen tearing I just have this odd invisible line at the top of the screen, it's immersion breaking. This goes away with all games I've played with borderless window options or fullscreen window, god knows what it is it's a new gaming laptop but vsync drops it from 80 odd fps (in this) to flat 48.

I guess I had better figure out what is causing this phantom horizontal line if this the way of the future. Thanks.

If you mean tearing, turn on vsync and its gone.

Wait, I know you, you saved me with your program with nier automata? Thanks again by the way.

Do you have a link to the program you are referring to?

Full release is hopefully going to be approved within the next 3-5 days. You can request access to the beta here.

A discussion on configuration for D3D12 is here:

For your framerate issues, you probably want to change those config settings to 5 or 6 backbuffers.

If you don't mind my asking, why is it obsolete? I'd always heard it was better for gaming because more of your computer's resources could be devoted to the game.

DXGI Flip Model made it obsolete. That was an optional feature in D3D11 supported by Windows 8.1 and newer, it's a mandatory feature in D3D12.

Flip Model eliminates the performance penalties associated with borderless window rendering, enables G-Sync and has some really nifty features to reduce input latency. The problem is because it's optional in D3D11, I can count on one hand the number of games shipped in the past 7 years that use it and people are convinced that borderless is intrinsically low performance.
