I cannot find the life of me finding a recent driver with that option, it seemed they just removed it or something.
So i was wondering what you use, so i can search for that driver.
(i hate it to ever chanche my res manual if i want to play)
i use "NirCMD" for that...download: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html
(scroll all down 4 dl)
my batch(DeathStrandingDSR.bat) look like this:
------------------------------------------------
d:
cd D:\Neuer_Ordner\NirCMD
nircmd setdisplay monitor:0 2560 1440 32 60
e:
cd E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Death Stranding
start /wait ds.exe
pause
d:
cd D:\Neuer_Ordner\NirCMD
nircmd setdisplay monitor:0 1920 1080 32 60
------------------------------------------------
My Nircmd is at "D:\Neuer_Ordner\NirCMD", DS is at "E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Death Stranding", so my different locations.
Normally the "start /wait" command should be enough, but here i must use "pause".
I start this batch, then resolution is chanching to 2560x1440 and game starts, if i close the game i only must press a key and all is original. ;-)
...but right, exclusive fullscreen would be better!
(p.s. start Steam before that batch file!)
I use the latest drivers provided by nvidia via Geforce experience. Version 451.67
Could you elaborate what this means, please?
Thank you! It's working fine! Although I'd like they implement it ingame, but meanwhile it's the best solution.
Though I wouldn't count on Kojima Productions to ever fix this behavior. Most developers seem to treat DSR and non-standard resolutions as an afterthought.
Oh well, the beauty of pc gaming is that you can come up with a quirky workaround and still get what you want...
I feel like this is something that developers should really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ address though. Downsampling is not some obscure arcane thing, lot of PC gamers use it...hell many games offer resolution scaling as graphical option directly in the menu. And for those that dont, DSR it is.
Although even when game offers scaling natively, I still prefer to use DSR over ingame scaling because when recording my gameplay in shadowplay, I get it recorded in 4K which results in much higher bitrate and quality on youtube compared to footage recorded in 1080p.
Works great. I can finally play at 4K with DLSS without any graphical artifacts/ghosting on my 1080p ultrawide screen. Looks great, no aliasing and sharpest possible image.
Keep on keeping on!
These guys have never made a Windows game before, and it shows. Now you're all mildly irritated that you have to use a driver hack for resolution scaling and it's not working conveniently. But the driver hack has been obsolete for quite some time, and is why it's not a polished experience :-\
These things require time, DX12 is pretty new for most game devs (less than 2 years mostly), very few studios have been using it since 2015-2016. Decima engine is really promising for a first version. Guerrilla/Kojima Prod just need time to add some new cool features :)
