Looting teammates deathbox = still abandon penalty

So i just had this happen in ranked, i go down, teammate goes to get my banner, NO ONE IS AROUND, and he just loots my entire box, all meds, my gun, armor, helmet everything, so i promptly leave since my teammate is griefing me, and I GET A TEN MINUTE BAN FROM THE GAME?

Please why isn't the some exemption for things like this

First of all it depend on situation. If there is other team around and he is out of ammo/batts isnt it smart to let him loot to increase his chances of surv?. Second if revive is far away and ring is closing you wont even be able to get that loot back.

I am not in favor to loot my teammate box - but there situation that you should say to yourself its fine if he survive and revive
You quited when he had your baner so its natural you get abandom penalty - you quited when you had chance to get resed. Its your fault sad but true

This almost never works lol. If they are griefing, telling them you going to report never works.

For Future reference:
Leaving a ranked game 2min 30sec after your banner gets picked up and not being respawned will not result in a abandon penalty (and you get to keep your RP).

That won't save you from griefers, though.
You could ask them during the cooldown why they are looting your box. Maybe they wanted to bring you one of your weapons and some heals to the respawn beacon.

because its not really a requirement to not loot teammatse deathbox ??? its a nicety to not loot it sometimes but that is it. also if my teammate who is alive needs ammo to not die while trying to rez me why would i care that he loots it from my dead ass ?

with all due respect my guy, that isn't really an excuse to leave the game, nor is it an excuse to report someone. you shouldn't have died and i assume you died in ranked, because pubs does not care if you leave mid match. i know, It sucks but it really is just a "git gud" situation. that or find a better team.

Just because you did't see anyone around doesn't mean no one is there. Cascade fall was right in the middle of the map, 3rd party can reach your teammates real quick in no time at all.

The keyword here is to communicate. Do you even tell your teammate not to loot it? Does your teammate tell you there is still people around? You basically grief your teammate by leaving right away.
