I think your definition of "casual" is... seriously casual.
What BP-level are you right now in Season 8, if I may ask?
Like what the others mentioned, the game isn't gonna wait around for you. It would be cool if you could work on any of the past battle passes but then they wouldn't make money on selling you level skips. I too wish I could earn the cosmetics at my pace, but I get it. It's a free game after all. I'll throw my money at them here and there for the time I put in (most is on Origin). Actual BP progression when playing isn't toooooo slow though. Just a matter of climbing 100 levels lol. RPGs can take longer to level than these BP do.
I suggest don't put any cash in this game for next few month since you will easily got the Loot Box by simply leveling up normally, leveling up free season pass and sometimes events for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and Loot Box but depend on how many times you play, you can save up to 50-100 crate in one season.
You can earn Crafting Material by opening up the Loot Box you got and save up until next event came up and if you don't have any particular skin you like just save it up for another next events.
Just don't put your money if you are not sure if you are gonna play this for the next few months or years.
And then grind some more niche weekly quests on... the weekend.
By playing 1h daily you should be, by now, finished with the battle pass.
I would buy the Champions DLC especially since it's on sale but it doesn't include all champions...
Then you have to either pay or grind it out slowly. At your pace your only option is to pay if you want them all. Is it worth it to you? Well only you can answer that not us. That being said you're lucky you can even play the game with good champions without spending anything.
I really like this game, I think it's the best "Call of Duty" game we have right now, as an old school CoD player.
Plus, if you're playing as little as it seems you are, then you're probably not playing the legends you do have enough to get accustomed to them well imo. As in, if you were playing each legend enough that you already have, you'd probably be able to afford the others with the in-game currency. I think I am missing the 2 most recent, Caustic, and the syringe running amigo dude. Rest is unlocked with in-game currency.
So, run the legends you do have more. Get good at them rather than worrying about changing legends every game and not really being all that good at any.
Also, I do not think you're a troll or anything. A bit in your feels and that's ok. Not here to bash you, just to offer input and critique :)
If you are not baiting, which is surprising, I would really recommend to never spend money on characters.
Learn the characters that you have at your disposal, when you play more and get used to them, you should be able to at least have enough for one or two characters for free. Inform yourself since there's enough info around (or simply ask) about which one seems interesting to you, unlock that/those play them to get used to them and once again you'll have enough for another legend.
However, if you want to continue this amount of time spent in one season and a half which are 2 hours total... is it really worth buying characters when you have barely touched the starting ones? Keep in mind, the starting characters are the best in the game if you cared for tier lists (with the exception of Horizon).
