I feel overwhelmed as a casual player
Like, I've started playing this game when it was added on Steam, played a few games, loved it, planned to buy the champions DLC sometime in the future, but before I managed to do that, the season is already over, there is a new champion released and so much more.

I am just casually playing and I don't have time to keep up with the news, but the seasons end too quickly I think, there is no time to grind anything. Even this new season now, I just started the game and there are only 42 days left... Feels like a cashgrab..

The original post looks like you've just played 5 matches in one season. Don't expect a game to give you half of the rewards by just playing an 18 min. average match for only a few times.

The seasons in Apex Legends lasts three months. Most people complain about the exact opposite, that it's too long and not enough changes... which is why they've tried to add mid-season balance changes and events.

I think your definition of "casual" is... seriously casual.

Just play for leisure, dont care about skins - and you will have fun. There's no need to grab the battle pass or special rewards, you can do well also in the standard skins :)
What BP-level are you right now in Season 8, if I may ask?

This must be a troll thread, the OP only has two hours since the steam release.

Yeah, you're playing quite casually (like me). I get wanting to unlock everything, but in a live-service, multiplayer-only kind of game, you gotta put in the time if you hope to get anything out of it. I also play casually (think only played handful of rounds with the treasure lady hero) and everything is new again but that's ok. New cosmetics is hardly anything to be "overwhelmed" by. The game is the same, the heroes are the same, and it's easy to grasp what the new gun and heat ring thingy does. After that, it's same old Apex.

Like what the others mentioned, the game isn't gonna wait around for you. It would be cool if you could work on any of the past battle passes but then they wouldn't make money on selling you level skips. I too wish I could earn the cosmetics at my pace, but I get it. It's a free game after all. I'll throw my money at them here and there for the time I put in (most is on Origin). Actual BP progression when playing isn't toooooo slow though. Just a matter of climbing 100 levels lol. RPGs can take longer to level than these BP do.

For Casual Player, I think you better don't stress it too much about the event especially for a brand new player just play as much as you can either solo, random or with friends (better with friends).

I suggest don't put any cash in this game for next few month since you will easily got the Loot Box by simply leveling up normally, leveling up free season pass and sometimes events for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and Loot Box but depend on how many times you play, you can save up to 50-100 crate in one season.
You can earn Crafting Material by opening up the Loot Box you got and save up until next event came up and if you don't have any particular skin you like just save it up for another next events.
Just don't put your money if you are not sure if you are gonna play this for the next few months or years.

If you want to hit level 100-110 in the Battle Pass... you'll have to play 1-2 hours a day. 1 hour if you're lucky with all your daily quests.

And then grind some more niche weekly quests on... the weekend.

By playing 1h daily you should be, by now, finished with the battle pass.

Please don't get me wrong guys, I am not trolling or anything, and it's not about the loot either, it's about the champions and so on, for which I think you have to pay, regardless of how much time you play. But that isn't the best thing to ever exist, since they will most likely release a new champion every 3 months as someone said previously. I don't really care about cosmetics, but I do however want all champions unlocked.

I would buy the Champions DLC especially since it's on sale but it doesn't include all champions...

Then you have to either pay or grind it out slowly. At your pace your only option is to pay if you want them all. Is it worth it to you? Well only you can answer that not us. That being said you're lucky you can even play the game with good champions without spending anything.

You can unlock a champion every 20 levels with red currency. After a while you have that stuff coming out your ears.

I just noticed that the Champions DLC even if it doesn't give you all champions, it does however give you coins to buy all of them, which is nice, but I cannot help but think when the next legend comes out, I have to pay again, for that alone, right?

I really like this game, I think it's the best "Call of Duty" game we have right now, as an old school CoD player.

Ya but he plays like 1 match a week from the looks of it. It'll take him years to even get half the roster at that point.

Eh, I'm not too concerned with *having* all the legends so much as knowing their shtick so I know how to play around them. Eventually, one just has to throw their hands up and grow accustomed to the legends they do have because to own them all would be a bit too much down the line, like with Siege.
Plus, if you're playing as little as it seems you are, then you're probably not playing the legends you do have enough to get accustomed to them well imo. As in, if you were playing each legend enough that you already have, you'd probably be able to afford the others with the in-game currency. I think I am missing the 2 most recent, Caustic, and the syringe running amigo dude. Rest is unlocked with in-game currency.

So, run the legends you do have more. Get good at them rather than worrying about changing legends every game and not really being all that good at any.

Also, I do not think you're a troll or anything. A bit in your feels and that's ok. Not here to bash you, just to offer input and critique :)

If you are not baiting, which is surprising, I would really recommend to never spend money on characters.
Learn the characters that you have at your disposal, when you play more and get used to them, you should be able to at least have enough for one or two characters for free. Inform yourself since there's enough info around (or simply ask) about which one seems interesting to you, unlock that/those play them to get used to them and once again you'll have enough for another legend.

However, if you want to continue this amount of time spent in one season and a half which are 2 hours total... is it really worth buying characters when you have barely touched the starting ones? Keep in mind, the starting characters are the best in the game if you cared for tier lists (with the exception of Horizon).
