What you _could_ do is create a new Steam library and copy the Origin copy of the game to that new library. Then, you tell Steam to preload / install to that folder. It _might_ display "Discovering existing files", and _maybe_ it will download less than 35 Gigabytes (one "Season" is usually around 5 GBs compressed).
Apex Legends stores old versions of maps alongside the updated versions, because some game modes revisit old maps. That is why full installation is ~50 GBs, and not ~20, as would be expected for 3 different maps.
