Going from Origin to Steam
If I were to start on Origin now, would I retain everything in the Steam version?, or would I be starting fresh?

2. I can confirm that you are NOT going to retain anything from Origin if you go to Steam. Awaiting confirmation because there is literally no 100% information on this and Respawn is ignoring it completely.

I have personally asked in EA Support today.[cdn.discordapp.com]

It's a shame. I was really thinking on buying the Battle Pass just this once since I'm done with it on Origin, incase I could transfer my stuff here.

Feel free to go to EA Support and ask the same question I did.

EDIT: There's been a tweet from a dataminer that could possibly confirm it may not be the case. Only hope it's true now.

EDIT 2: There's an even bigger possibility it may be real. https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/Can-i-move-my-apex-legends-progress-into-steam/td-p/9240450

Though the forums post kinda feels like a default answer from a forum moderator.

Starting fresh

It's unknown. You will have to link Origin acc assuming it is like the other EA releases on Steam recently so it's likely that everything on your origin acc will transfer to the Steam version. However console to PC will not.
Probably keep everything because you will need to have Origin to play the game anyways

1. You don't need Origin to play this game.

2. It's currently unknown if you'll retain your things, but assuming you'll still have to link your EA account even if there's no Origin, I believe it's likely you will retain your things, but only waiting to see. I hope so though, because I'm nearly done with the BP and am slightly inclined on doing so if I can keep it on Steam.

Again, I repeat, there's NOTHING confirmed yet.

I know p[eople who have spent 1000 dollars on this game. They better be able to keep their things.

true. i think and the logical thing would be to keep ur stuff from origin. only the players from consoles would not have the cross-progress, somewhere i read sth like that

The game will most likely come with "Origin Lite" where you'll log into your Origin account just like any other new EA games, so yes you'll keep everything.

Edit: And when you'll start up Origin, you'll see Apex Legends in your list with a Steam logo on it.

Wow that actually sucks a lot!

Edit: No wonder it's taking so long for them to port it over to Steam.

Just look at what destiny 2 did. They jumped from Battlenet to Steam with progression carried over via Bungie account. So Apex might do the same with EA account.

They want to slowly and over time shut down origin. So origin doesn't required or if it does its is temporary until they nuke origin. And progress gonna carry over to steam. This game is not new and players have already spent 100s of $ so apex is finished if we have to start fresh.

Does that means apex removes from origin? Or can we continue our progress on origin?
This just doesn't make sense:
If u still have to use an ea account in steam then can u use the same ea account from origin?
Or should i create new ea account? If im using the same account then how can i have 2 apex progress on the same account??! if that make sense...

what it appears to be the truth, is that EA doesnt want to lose their players from Origin platform - since they keep it alive - tho they want to increase the amount of players on Apex. So its more for the new players who didnt wanna run Origin or wtv, old players who are already playing Apex, wont stop playing on Origin.

The store page says the game still requires an EA account.

"Requires 3rd-Party Account: EA Account (Supports Linking to Steam Account)"

So, I imagine if you can log into your EA account it'll have all your stats and progression.

Expecting players to start fresh is stupid. No way Respawn or EA would do that. Apex is a cash cow for them.
