That ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Benny Hill chasing is so annoying.
Keeping armies in reserve was probably a good decision of the AI too, because I finally attacked that Nurgle faction a few turns ago as I need to defeat them to win. Not sure I'll manage that as I have to play every battle against that monster Tamurkhan manually, almost every expected AR outcome is a defeat for me, and he is allies with another strong faction (Archaon) which will likely also soon show up. But at least its fun.
This is my first play-through with the excellent The Old World mod though, so maybe things are different when using that one? I do suspect it’s the beta that is behind Tamurkhan keeping all those armies near our border for 10+ turns without actually attacking, though. I’m currently 1st or 2nd in global power, and with a couple of decent Chaos Dwarf factions to support me, while he is like 5th or something, but with Arcahon and all his vassals as his own allies, so two strong, rival sides that were facing each other for quite some time before I finally invaded him.
Or rather send a token force to entertain you better?
Yeah, pretty much. It's a bit like in films where they've thwarted the bad guy's plans, but he escaped to his final hideaway and the hero has to fight him in his most dangerous form. It's never the case that they thwart his plans and someone says "right, main bad guy's over there, quick double tap then lets hit the beers". The reason being that while that might be a lot more reasonable and reflective of the "real world", it would make for an extremely anti-climactic experience.
