All Total Wars after Medieval II and before TW Warhammer are complete trash because of the Warscape engine & simplification - they can hardly be called a Total War game if they involve meele units.
In Empire TW they switched to the Warscape engine which is neat for projectiles but terrible for anything else. What I mean is that you can't take a Total War serious if combat consists of people only allowing to do 1v1 as well as that units clip nonstop into each other cause they also have no collision and weight thus making the battles look and feel absolutely terrible every time. The AI cheats have also been drastically increased which is still an issue in TW Warhammer too sometimes, having tiny factions field 2 stacks is absurd.
Luckily for the franchise, they fixed this finally in TW Warhammer adding all the stuff back which makes combat feel neat again. Some stuff is still simplified like buildings but there are lots of other features that make up for it.
LOL. This is troll stuff :)
There are lots and lots of showcases about the Warscape Engine and its issues, what about that is troll stuff? Do you not watch the battles at all? is it realistic for you if entities of a unit glitch through each other or can only perform 1v1 combat while anybody else watches? Just look at Rome IIs launch - it was a disaster exactly because of said engine and after a while all they did is add a script hat push units apart when being too close which was just awkward to look at.
Like I said its fixed in TW Warhammer but in the prior Total Wars it made combat borderline unwatchable and in comparison to lets say Medieval II the building system has been severely simplified - but in TW Warhammer there are lots of other good new features that make up for that.
No clue what about this is supposed to be trolling, maybe this is your first Total War?
Total War Warhammer 3's launch was utterly terrible and unplayable because they did not fixed engine problems too. Back then cavalry was able to IGNORE infantry so even your line of spearmen got thrown to the moon on a charge among many other problems like units hardly being able to get back into formation. Thats all fixed by now though but just shows that if there is no polish then the unit behavior can be disastrous.
I got asked about my opinion on past Total Wars and engine issues are why I found them to be unplayable.
also dude bretonnia like has trebuchets u have lots of options to deal with sieges...
Ah yes because there always has to be black and white right? because of one issue in sieges I now have to immediately not like the whole game right? Because I dont like the engine issues in PREVIOUS total wars, I must absolutely not like the current game that are unrelated to CAs mistakes of the past right?
Man your idea of dialogue is messed up. Its important to bring up issues and something as basic as attacking a gate which you do in every siege should simply work after all this time the game has been in development and "released" . . .
I indeed dont play the TW parts I criticized but thats unrelated to this game since the launch issues were fixed a long, long time ago.
Guess what I did - it doesn't matter who I sent be that lord, hero or knights the AI just bugs my army out and neither can act anymore so I have to go to another empty gate.
Why would I make trebuchets if I can just use OP knights to destroy everything? Nobody ever makes trebuchets as Bretonnia. The space marine knights can still break the gate even if it takes a bit if it would work but the sheer idea of the enemy opening the gate was just far too paralyzing for these noble knights!
and using the trebs to take out the gate still works too.
i gave u the solutions if u dont want the medicine dont say ur sick as they say!
like i only need to send in like in my current game malekith and smash the gate down. sure the ai somehow shoots me though the wall but i adapt quickly.
Another thing to do is hide your units capable of hiding on one side of the map, everybody else on the other. The besieged AI will deploy all of their units to the part that they can see. Take your butt-ladders and capture a gatehouse with those previously hidden infantry, then move all the fast units through that gatehouse you now own into the city.
This gate bug has persisted in all warscape engine Total Wars. The devs most certainly know about and can't do anything to fix it.
If you don´t know the sex/gender of the person you are referencing "they" is commonly used in English.
