I finally get why people hate on Norsca
See, until today i honestly was pretty confused by the hate. They regularly out perform almost every other faction in pvp, showing off how they can hold their own against most other factions without much trouble. They have the tribal confederation which means you get tons of land quickly that can be used to build into better troops early, and their lords are very cool design wise. Whats not to love?

Then I played Wulfrik.

It started great, steamrolled 3 factions in a row, leading to some nice easy land grabs, even though the auto resolve seems allergic to giving Wulfrik his due, no biggie, hes a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ monster that summons long ships on command, easy wins. Then suddenly Belakor declares war, and gets on my beach, not a problem, i ambush him on the mountain pass and wipe him out. Then his vassal attacks, and i wipe him out. Then Throgg declares war and starts attacking my other end, so i have to leave this front to go confederate him, quick and done. But then that vassal and belakor are now back on my shore taking my settlements, and i cant front a decent second army due to norsca´s limited economy. So i chase them down up and down the isle, killing one, and attempting to attack the island only for another army to immediatly come out of the island forcing me back.

So this goes on for 20 turns, its turn 35, the vassal has taken all the northern side of my territory but i think, aha this is fine, we are both chaos factions, when i beat belakor ill be able to vassalize him or steal the vassal he controls, thus ending the attacks and allowing me the chance to go and kill that norscan whose taken all my land and thusly take it back, except..it doesnt give me that option. It doesnt say that i can vassalize him, and even though ive taken his last settlement the only thing i can do with him is ask for peace.

Oh hey, guess who just busted in my back door, Kostaltyn who somehow killed Throt by turn 20, what are you doing here?

Seriously, Norsca are monsters in the battlefield, they easily earn their cost every fight, and are incredibly consistent, but jesus christ is the campaign itself a nightmare. No money, an extremely large plot of land that you have to keep control over with at most 1 and a half armies and enemies surrounding you that LOOOOOVE to come in screw with your territory thats 3 turns distance away from where you are currently leading to an endless ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rat race where youre stuck running in circles puting out fires!

And this is by turn 35, how the ♥♥♥♥ do you even get out of early game with this ♥♥♥♥ going on?

So in other words, it's not the boring kindergarten experience you get with nearly all the other races by now.

I mean ive been enjoying some of the challenges of the other factions, like Tomb Kings for as much ♥♥♥♥ as people give them have my second favorite lord in the game to play (High Queen Khalida, and I dont think id call her easy) but this is just exhausting, like you cant build any form of infrastructure or economy to field a proper second army to manage these threats to some degree. How do people deal with this?

Can't you just go to surthra ek, beat him and take his war mammoth, and tgen easily steamroll the rest of norsca? Havn't played them in a long time, but getting that mammoth usually made the rest easy.

All of that is undercut by the AI's utter lack of aggression and killer instinct.

I usually just give most of my starting money to Be'lakor for a non-aggression pact, as long as you are in positive relations he won't break it.

Also, are you auto-resolving fights or playing them manual? the lost in faction strength from questionable auto resolves it usually what leads to the chaos dog pile

Final word, Norsca's economy is actually fairly good with every level 3 port giving you 800 income per turn, which only increases as you raze settlements in the name of the dark gods

I've played Wulfrik several times. In the beginning I tried to take the Norscan territory only to discover that defending it is painful.

What I started doing instead is ignoring the Norscan territory at the beginning and then attacking Brettonia with an army of berzerkers. The 2nd tier infantry with frenzy. I took Corronne or however it's spelled.

The thing is you really need to take out Belakor as fast as you can because your capital is a doom fortress. It's a Warrior of Chaos magnet.

You can claim the Norscan territory later easily because usually Throgg confederates several Norscan factions and you get all their territory at once when you beat him.

Just keep good relations with belakor& people in the north chaos wastes and you should be having pretty easy campaign. But i agree they still need overhaul badly.

Any overhaul they'd receive would aim at making them less interesting, less challenging and more boring.

If only CA remembered that people would like to play a strategy game for the strategy aspect once in a while.

I fought every fight and reached rank 40 by turn 20.

Dude you like go into every forum arms swinging, you know that? Like, mate i came here asking for how to handle the early game and expressing rhat i understood peoples frustrations now because of the literal scooby doo style chase sequences i had with enemy armies.

Like, you come in here making bold claims and kind of just messing up vibes, like jesus could you take it down from 11?

Ok this is genius, i never really thought much on this cause confederating was so quick in this game, but youre really right. Thank you for the tip, ill give it another shot tonight.

Or you could take my statements regarding the lack of challenge in this game not so personal.

Im talking about the vibe mate, not taking this personally, you come in making grand statements about the state of the game and how theres no strategy in this strategy game and im here like, man...i just wanted tips on what im doing wrong with wulfrik while expressing an understanding as to why so many dislike norsca.

Like you literally came in here full aggro mate. And every time i see you in forums you are full aggro, no matter the topic and even when people are supporting your argument. Like mate, no one here was starting an argument, no one was asking for this vibe, just chill.

So you are taking it personally when I besmirch the lack of challenge in this game. You take it as me belittling your gaming skills, right?
