recruiting new heroes

hello, can someone explain how to recruit new legendary heroes for each of the three factions?

Reach the required level with one of your lords (can differ depending on hero, no idea with the 3 new ones) and you get a quest. Do every step of the quest and the character shows up.

Usually it's around level 16, often you'll need to recruit certain types of units, get a certain amount of kills, or build a specific building.

With Sayang you'll need 18 constructs and 1,500 kills once his quest appears.

For cathay you eventually get a quest that requires you to recruit 5 of the construct units. You can get this done super easy by making the jade / jet lions and it will just give it to you next turn. I think I got the quest relatively early around the 20-30 turn mark playing as meow ying.
