how reliable are vassals?
im playing as N'kari and im suspicious of my vassals. i have vassalized averlorn, yvresse and tyrion as well as saphery. yvresse is pretty strong, has a lot of settlements. how can i be sure that they will remain loyal? is it possible for a vassal to rebel?

overall, relations are improivng with the elf legendary lord vassals. however, saphery relations are going down for some reason, and they even ended their trade agreement with me.

on a related note, im worried about how much control i have over the vassals. they do not want to give me settlements they conquer, and saphery specifically does not want a trade agreement.

I never seen em cancel the vassal. Cancel trade yeah. Maybe if your strength went down alot. But I never gone to that point.

Last game, which I could not win cos of bug, I had 12 vassals, like every faction except chaos mainly. cathay, all. From trading them minor settlement pfftt..

Now here is the forumlae right. Each vassal i get makes me stronger, If they want to step out and war me, they will fight my other ten vassals

They are in rock and hard place. Nobody cancels when you got 11 vassals.

As for one to cancel would be all my vassal against them. So its like, what can they do?? nothing

But say you had one or two vassals, and strength faltered. I imagine they could cancel it, but i have not gone through that

Vassals cannot defect when playing as Slaanesh.
They can however opt out of wars you drag them into, without breaking vassalisation (dont ask how that works).
And since they are often weak, they drag you into wars. Since youre hated by everyone in the local area anyways and beyond that, having some people not go after you is a good thing.

Vassals also do jack all in terms of fighting, they may defend your land but mostly will field trash.

The only reason to keep vassals are for recruiting their troops and borrowing their armies (if they ever recruit a 2nd one that is).
You can do better in terms of money if you own their land yourself.
But if you want to do a meme campaign you could go all out Pokemon and make as many vassals as humanly possible.

Well, as long as it's only one vassal.

I think vassals should definitely be less reliable. Vassaldom is after all a mutual pact (support in exchange for protection), not one-sided subjugation.

thanks! its a relief that i do not need to worry about a backstab.

about recruiting troops - is slaanesh able to make outposts? i do not see an option to create one for averlorn. i want their sisters of averlorn unit.

what about asking them for their settlements, to make sure they are not too strong? any tips for that?

I'm not sure why you cant build outposts.
One reason I could think of that you may not own that faction (Averlorn is a DLC faction, the DLC is Queen&Crone from warhammer 2). If you dont own the DLC you also cant get the troops of that DLC which sisters of averlorn are part of that.

If you do own the dlc, check for mods (game recently updated so mods are pretty unstable, well some).
If you dont play with mods, then this is most likely a bug or someone else already has an outpost in their settlement.

Asking them for their settlements?
For races that hate you (aka everyone but norsca) they likely never trade the settlements to you. I know slaanesh has some improvements to relationships through their mechanic and so on, but even that isnt quite enough to counteract the -50 or -100 some races have against you.
And then comes the maluses of attacking other order races.

You can throw a ton of small gifts at their face (increasing relations) to then buy the settlements off of them (may take a few turns for the relation increase to take effect), but in my experience its not that worth it. Just leave them be, or take it by force (and then vassalize them again, you dont need to care for reliability to keep vassals after all).
Like when you want their settlements, keep an army at their home and then take what you want.
then simply beat the home settlement and vassalise them again (this works with norsca, humans and elves, not sure if Bretonia and kislev count too or if there are more races that it works on)

There's an annoying aspect to having norscan vassals. If the leader of your norscan vassal gets beat up by another norscan army, he gets confederated and you lose him as a vassal. Now this begs the question, can your high elf vassal get confederated by another high elf faction? Does anyone know that?

Not reliable whatsoever

Chaos (N'kari and WoC) vassals cannot rebel, it's part of their faction mechanics. They will never break free from you.
That does not mean that they will be useful.

edit: they won't make or keep trade treaties with you, but you can live without those. Your vassals might need the money, though. When I play N'Kari and vassalize Alarielle, she usually constantly bankrupts herself without doing anything. They really need to fix the AI and maybe have N'Kari work like the champions of chaos where their vassals favor the overlord's corruption.

they cant stop to be a vassal only way to cancel the vassal state is to start war with another vassal which forces you to take one side.
