I get that they are a cavalry army, but I feel like that's ALL they can do. I was hoping for some more variety, or just something other than peasant infantry and a shed ton of horses.
With the love that Empire have been given I would sure love to see GW flesh them out a bit more. The theme is great, just lacking.
Perhaps they could lean into the "faerie" side of it, giving them access to stuff like dryads, Fen beasts and whatnot. I dunno... they just need... something.
1. Warriors of Chaos: I honestly love so much that they did with this faction and its mechanics. The faction feels exactly as it should feel. I love the unit upgrade mechanic so much I cant even describe it. Furthermore the ability to mark your units and armies for the different chaos Gods allows you to make so many variations of armies, or dedicated armies to the different Gods that all play differently from the others. This rework honestly knocked it out of the park for me and I have done 2 full map clears in IE, a full clear in RoC, and 2 long victories as them since the rework went live just a few months ago. They are a little too powerful though and that can lead to the steamroll effect, but I still love how this race plays now.
2. High Elves: still overall my best on the battlefield and they have the most well rounded yet powerful roster in the game. High elves were just flat unfair in warhammer 2, and they are not as powerful as they were in that game, but they are still easily a A tier race with some of the best LL options in the entire game. Their weakest Lord is still better that some of the best lords from other factions.
3. Tomb Kings: still the gold standard for how great a race pack can be. Even though they have not been given much over time, they are still one of the best all around factions in the game with a play style that is very unique and fun.
4. Beast men: Love the way this race plays in its current format with the blood grounds and herd stone system. It needs some tweaking to make unit capacity increases less expensive after the first 2-3 clicks in comparison to the flat 1500 of a new army cost, but overall I like this race a lot. I have done games where I do the cheese style of play with 30 armies mostly of basic spears where you just swarm opponents. I have also played games where you play more like you are supposed to play them where you instead focus on unit capacity upgrades and instead of having 30 crap armies, you instead have 4-5 powerful ones. Both tactics work and present their own experience
5. Wood Elves: Proof that a defensive faction is not only possible, but in fact extremely fun and different. Now I realize Orion is going to be nerfed, but I hope they do not scrap the mechanic all together...because I live the idea of a lord that starts wars with everyone, then dares them to enter his domain to fight him like that. Orion is the ultimate "enter my forest and die" experience to me, and I used to hate WE's but playing them in the 3rd game is actually highly engaging and fun
Dying for some halflings in this game!!
Admittedly I had a cauldron artillery piece in my miniatures collection. It was glorious!
