They didn't even try the game or anything.
And come on Mazi I think you know this, stop playing dumb.
Add to that some open threats made by CA to milk its fans even more while showing all the signs that the company is willing to leave Warhammer in the dust.
Plenty of reasons if you ask me.
Right, let's take a look at an immediate comparison off the top of my head:
Shadows of Change DLC - price $25 - released August 2023. Adds 3 Lords for existing factions and a free Legendary Hero that is barely anything special and has 0 replay value. The LH is basically a reskin of the previous LH they released with the previous patch...
OK, so the three new Lords have some mechanics that are unique to them. We also get a few more units.
The overall experience of this DLC is mediocre at best. It feels rushed, incomplete and barely functional. Why the ♥♥♥♥ can Ostankaya recruit Boyars and Kossars? Makes no sense lore-wise and is a crude patch-up of a very weak Kislev roster.
Changeling - you literally cannot lose. Wow, such a quality gameplay experience.
Yuan Bo - might as well play a generic Cathay Lord.
Tzeentch is the only one that has a fully functioning roster, and it's not thanks to this patch at all. It's simply because Chaos units are shared across Gods and are re-purposed.

Now, let's look at a DLC released in July 2021 for Warhammer 2 -- The Silence and The Fury. Full price $10...
Adds 2 Legendary Lords - Taurox and Oxyotl.
Adds a FREE Legendary Lord - Thorek Ironbrow.
Adds TWO full reworks - Beastmen and Dwarfs.
This is the patch that made Beastmen the powerhouse race that it is today. It added completely new mechanics and ways to play.
This is also the patch that updated Dwarfs and gave them Rune Magic, making them able to stand up and play against the newer mechanics of the game.
It also added Thorek Ironbrow, a lord that has a very fun and unique campaign, with his own objectives and mechanics...
And that's not even getting into Taurox and Oxyotl...

Tell me again how the game is great when it's so clear that quality has gone down into the dirt over time.
I love this game, don't get me wrong, I have hundreds of hours in WH2 and 3 combined... I want it to be as great as it can be.
But that doesn't mean I'll just accept any garbage that CA puts out and asks for my wallet. Get better standards. If we don't hold it accountable for what it does to its fan base, then the company will keep doing it again and again and get away with it every time.
At one point in the future, CA will release Medieval 3. Do you want it to have the same fate as Warhammer 3? Endless crap-tier DLC for absurd prices?
How would I know?
Honestly I thought that most of those who bought it with such entusiams on the forums would leave positive reviews, so it is shocking for me that it sits at negatives, especially for a vocal minority.
It's half the price of the full game for essentially nothing. That's why it's getting hate.
The changeling looks cool and unique tho.
"Nothing" seems a bit excessive
I wonder how the Steam algorithm is handling this. I could imagine that these count as sales, which promotes this DLC to top selling position.
