Anyone else find "Skulls for the Skull Throne" cringe?
GW has been miking this phrase for years now as if some literary genius wrote this. It reminds me of "Winter is coming" but somehow even more cringe :dazed_yeti:.

At-least they done use this for their sale
'Eyes without life, maggot-ridden corpses, mountains of skulls. These are some of my favorite things.'
-Dracon Borkor

Now that is pretty cringe
what would you prefer?

"like, share and subscribe for the skull throne"

:steamfacepalm:

As for the phrase, its a catchphrase, its like "Who ya gonna call?" and any other countless numbers of pop culture catch phrases, if you dont like it, dont say it, but its literally the entire premise of Khorne in a single phrase. He revels in death and destruction, what else do you expect? poetry ?
Khorne isnt just about death and destruction.

He also represents courage, and honor. And hates killing of un armed people.

The flesh hounds were made specifically to hunt down warriors who kill the defenseless.
Naa man, it makes sense in lore. Blood for the blood God, and thus Skulls for the Skull Throne. There is only one way to appease Khorne and that is through war. Showing your martial prowess by slaying all those who oppose you and laying waste to the world is literally the best case scenario for appeasing him.

Maybe in the really old lore, but today's khorne is all about unrestrained rage and killing.

not as cringe as the CBC once claiming Game of Thrones was responsible for the "grimdark" fantasy genre

Khorne poetry: “ Oh for art thou est blood spilling for thine lord-eth Khorne? Have at thee, for your boney shell shall become decore for my lord Khorne’s seat!”
As an event - definatly yes since unlike previous years they don't even drop a bits of ingame content for free.

As a phrase - no.

Ironically he represents justice too.

Retributive justice to be more correct he is more for no non sense when it comes to dealing out punishments for offenses

hard to say, in this universe nobody is without sin might be the reason why it's unrestrained rage

Precisely

This is what happens when your authors don't have a consistent writing guide. 99% of Khorne is just indiscriminate mass killing, with maybe a one-of scenario where there was some "justice". Khorne is just straight up cringe.

I doubt he represents justice tho.

Honor is more accurate.

If you take Skarbrand's betrayal, he wasn't excatly pissed about him betraying him.
He was more pissed about the fact that he hit him from behind.

Khorne is, as others state, about war, bloodshed and basically fast death, because slow and painful is Slaneesh.

Sure every Chaos god represents also something good / neutral.
For Khorne it's honor. Take Uz'hul Skulltaker for example as well. He doesn't win battles by killing huge numbers. He simply challenges enemy lord to one on one duel.
