Plus they look cool.
High and Wood Elves are also very good.
Most flavourful races are Skaven, Khorne and Vampire Coast, by far, however.
My pick would be High Elves purely due to their massive amount of units that can be used for all sorts of situations. They have a fairly solid infantry for holding the line and shooting, skirmishers and close combat damage dealers, cavalry and chariots for when you need speed, flying single entity monsters with one subfaction having tanky ground monsters, access to all eight winds.
Really, their only real battlefield weakness is very limited artillery.
Orcs.
There are no "Orks" in Fantasy.
And no, they are not even very strong, much less close to anything "best".
Sisters of Avelorn and Fire Mages are their lategame Artillery, and both do the job very well.
High Elves are the one race that really has all bases covered. All they are really missing is the Lothern Skycutter, which would give them Flying Artillery.
1. Counts
2. Gobbos
3. Bretonnia
4. Maybe Oxyotl
All others are much inferior although I haven't tried game 3 factions yet which are incomplete IMO.
Game 3 factions are some of the most complete, in the whole game.
