Loading Heroes/Lords from previous Campaigns
I only noticed this today. At turn 1 I could recruit a Dark Elf lord I saved, she was level 20 into my Rakarth campaign for about 9,000 gold. But it didn't bring over her items. Just her levels and skill spec.

What do you guys think about this change to the game?

Should we get items too?

Is gold cost about right?

I didn't check heroes yet on gold cause had to level buildings. Is their price too high?

Is... is that what saving a lord does?

Yeah, when you go to recruit a new hero or lord, there's a "Load" button. It's wild.

Well i think it's right. A strong level 20 lord can be very devastating early, having the lad come with stronger items would make the function too op.

Should be pointed out that this also applies to lords that can ascend like exalted greater deamons, deamon princes and warriors of chaos characters ascended through the path of glory.

So you can have a early exalted greater deamon lord or deamon prince lord if you play any of the mono god races (it will be rather cheap to if you save it right after ascending it since it will be low level and the level decides the cost).

Or you could get a marked hero/lord early for warriors of chaos.

Do however note that they don't care over between races even if those races use the same lord type (Some examples: If you save a Khorne exalted bloodthirster you can't load it while playing as the Legion of Chaos. If you save a Warriors of Chaos Khorne marked character you can't load it while playing as Khorne).

Interesting.

I tried Dark Elf Dreadlord (Sword and Shield) and she got a 2nd Aristocratic Name of Power when I loaded her. She kept her original for 1st campaign. Maybe if you keep creating new games with her you can get all of them. Haha.

You all just blew my entire mind.

Does this mean I can take a generic lord, have them go kill the specific Legendary Lord with the trait I want, save them, restart, repeat forever?? You just gave me hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Yes. But do keep in mind that there is a trait limit. You can't collect them all.

This is correct. And this includes generic lords from Yvresse that get a special trait at level 15. You can load them into other high elf faction games.
does that mean you can just save level 1 lords with actual useful starting trait and bypass the grind of finding the trait you want among the lot of useless one in the character pool?

Yes. You can hire a generic lord with a useful trait and save him at level 1. Then load that level 1 generic lord in later saves.

Edit: And that also works with heroes.

interesting, I will have to take a look at this function in the future and explore some of the posibilities that come with it

Can you do this with legendary Lords? Example Scarbrand

No, you can't save or load legendary lords.

You still have to do the grind, but you can focus on it much better.

What I do is create throwaway campaigns where I spend a dozen or so turns devoted to just getting the hero buildings up or lord unlocks done, then save scum to get multiple versions of the heroes and lords I want.

It's important to do this without other modifiers if you want to get rid of the RNG (which I think is fair) without getting high leveled heroes/lords. By focusing purely on getting the lords/heroes early and not anything else, you avoid any traits/upgrades/buildings you might normally get in the campaign which would make your recruits higher than level 1.
