Is it just me or does the hero eat too much?
I hope the game designers will add a feature to scale how much water and food you need to consume I seem to always starve to death because activities drain my yellow bar really fast I literally starved to death at the tarvern buying food.I know you can customize and not worry about any of it food, water, stamina, life but it feels like cheating=) has to be a way you can make the game more realistic I mean eating 5 roasted meat and then starving the same night to death isn't very realistic right?

In the standard settings one season has three "days", with each year having four seasons. This makes one of those days more equal to a month. With that in mind it might make more sense.

Considering Racimir invented Jogging (not this faster-movement-thing found around 1950) he surly has to eat a lot- athletic as he is running around the whole day he needs power...
But right =) there is no balance between gathering/need of food. But when the hunger-bar is empty and you eat somewhat like 12 roasted meat or 25 raw cabbage and you feel better then...

Anyway, its a game. And i guess after diverse more important updates they will although work on the hunger/ thirst-effect.

I do think nutrition and thirst are out of balance. It takes me something like 10 roasted meats to restore the nutrition bar, and it drops way too fast imo. But there are a few areas of the game that are pretty out of balance, and my assumption has been that they just haven't gotten around to tweaking that stuff yet.

As soon as you unlock the tavern you can get recipes for all kinds of soups which have a much higher nutrition value than roasted meat. Eating will no longer be an issue. Also, you can put three skill points on less hunger and thirst, so it will become even less of an issue.

that is always a "problem" in survival games - and there is no way out.
what are the options?

that a single deer will last for 10 real time hours?
that u only will have to hunt 1 deer in 10 real time hours? (because of realism)
everybody would be bored about that.
better recipes is the only answer.

yes, u will have to be busy at the start.
collecting berries, mushrooms, trading stuff to buy better food.
only some time later - u will sell ur food.

Once you can cook real meals, hunger isn't an issue. Living off hunks of meat and raw veggies isn't very sustainable.

I don't really agree on the speed of getting hungry - it seems about right to me. But the amount of food from animals is a bit silly. It's fairly balanced considering how easy it is to hunt, but I would rather it be difficult to hunt animals and have them provide way more resources.

As-is, taking down a herd of deer gives less value in resources than picking a berry patch. And you have to eat multiple deer just to fill your belly once. If it wasn't so ridiculously easy to hunt, food might actually be hard to gather.

I much prefer the realism of games like Unreal World. In that game, hunting large animals is difficult. But if you hunt one down (or catch one in a trap fence) you can get hundreds of pounds of meat that can last you months if you properly preserve it by drying, smoking, or salting it.

I really hope the current hunting and food balance is temporary and will be improved as early access progresses.

1 sec of RL = 1 minute of game time. So, if you are not hungry or thirsty after 5 hours of game time, you must have a very special diet. ;-)

2 sec irl = 1 min in game

you do know that raw meat as well as roasted meat gives the very least of nutrition, do you?
Yust grow yourselve some cabage and cook soup with that and your raw meat and you'll need very less frequent.
I'm not sure if you noticed that different kind of food gives different amount of nutrition.

I'd rather have a single deer last all day, and give me 28 days for a season. Most of the farm sims I play do it that way. I don't like the 3-day season, at all. It doesn't allow time to tend crops, fight with weeds or drought, or any of a number of things I'd like to see in the game.

You can expand length of a season up to 30 days.
Only possible if you start a new game, though, but if this is what you'd love to do, it is possible.

So many food sources in the game, you can literally eat cabbage and onions raw. You can get 500+ in 1 harvest depending on your plot. Hunter's lodge also gives you hundreds of meat, all you have to do is cook it.

Wrong. 1 sec.
