Where can I find good places to build?

My suggestion would be somewhere close to water, forest and preferably mine to be able to run iron later on quickly. My favorite location is South-East from Denice next to the lake. A lot of wood, forest, water for drinking and fishing, a lot of game of hunting and there are two mines not far away from there + clay very close by. A lot of straight ground for easy building and many other things.

i chose the big crossroads in the center to the west near where the river splits and combines. its pretty good for flat space and forest and hunting but bad for mining and clay. but even with a mine half way across the map. your villagers start producing as soon as the work day starts. so it could take them all day to get there but their still producing.

For me THE BEST location for the village is flat land just a little on the west from the "unstuck place". You know - a place where u can teleport yourself at any moment? There is all u need: wood, water, animals spots and even a cave nearby - perfect place! The major benefit is, u can actually teleport from any place exaclty to your doorstep.

I like the plains south of Baranica myself. Plenty of room for building, pretty flat area. It is not the best for mining, but I have no issue going once a year to do a full mining experience to get my iron for the year. I prefer a nice pretty town with a solid layout.

Tbh, the location on the eastern side of the lake near Hornica might actually be better, as it has all the animals close by as well as clay AND a cave ;).

I like flat land, how long does it take to get iron for the year?

4 minutes travel, mine every rock in the northern cave. That is typically enough iron for my year. As far as I can tell, iron resets every season, so if I need more than that, I can go twice. I don't automate it yet.

I've found that the area west of Borowo (Bridge near the reed bed) is a good location. Plenty of Maple trees, which give 4 logs, central location near several settlements for trade and recruitment, plenty of wooded areas and hunting grounds close by, the mine near Brancia is also not too far away and it's also next to the river for easy drink/bathing needs. The lack of dangerous wildlife threatening your villagers is also nice.
