Special K v_0.2.0 - FPS Boost!
Disclaimer: I am not a developer.

TLDR: You should be able to hit higher FPS ceilings now, big for people who struggled to maintain the FPS they desired. It specifically helped my case of being stuck at high 50's in certain areas and now I haven’t seen a drop below 60.

The best PC experience for this game now needs a mod.

Instructions :

1. Join the Special K Discord [discord.gg]

2. Download 0.2.3 from #nier-replicant

Additional performance boosts! Who could've guessed performance boosting in this game came down to preventing it from sleeping all the time.

Stop it, Replicant -- don't sleep on the job! Don't let the monotonous fetch quests of the game lull you into a heavy sleep!

- Enable Light Sleep mode in SK's UI for additional performance gains on some system. Combine with Input Thread Rescheduling (aka Sleepless Window Thread for max performance gains.
- ReShade users rejoice, as Sleepless Render Thread isn't seemingly needed at all nowadays for max performance boost (you still need to disable it manually though, for now, if you haven't already!)

It's a convenience thing mostly -- it's easier for Kal to just drop an updated copy to the Discord since currently the development is heavily in flux, with versions to the left and right that might break some things while fixing others.

Eventually when the Replicant mod and features stabilizes the changes will be made available as part of the main public stable release of SK which is always available at:

But yeah, until that happens (might be a couple of days or weeks) the Discord is the dumping ground for all versions.

Also disable Deferred Mode for less stutters. It is enabled by default for hudless screenshots.

So I'm running an old version, what do I have to do exactly? Just need this file and delete the ini?

I've noticed they also released a new specialk DLL too. Man this is confusing.

Delete “default_dxgi.ini” and “dxgi.ini” in the game directory and drop the 0.2.3 files inside.

You don’t have to worry about that DLL you’re mentioning.

Pirates started flooding the support threads and spammed it with issues that were mostly related to the pirated copy.

Dev got tired of that and implemented some measures that the pirates took as declaration of war. He has also been voicing his frustration relating to this pretty harshly.

Some sad individuals, (mostly pirates) still hold a grudge.
