i mean they all have a pretty stark personality. Shadowheart is the dark emo girl that plays hard to get but everyone wants her. laezel is a total ***** but you respect her for it, Gale is just an absolute CHAD despite being a weak little scrawny wizard nerd, Halsin is daddy, and Astarion is..well, he's Astarion.
the only one who doesnt feel like he has a meaningful personality is the blade of frontiers.
like, is he a super hero? does he just like to teach little league? what is Wylls deal?
hes a melee warlock, that isnt a hexblade, so thats weird. and beyond having a hot demon patron, he himself doesnt seem to have any real personality.
i mean you might hate all the other companions, but at least you have an emotional response to them. With wyll I just feel..nothing. and thats pretty difficult because hes the one with the big plan, you sort of HAVE to go along with his idea if you want a good guy playthrough, so in a sort of "canonical way" hes the canonical choice with the canonical plan that makes the most impact and the most sense, so its really rough that you dont feel endeared to him at all.
I mean no one expects him to have the sex appeal of Astarion or Shadowheart...or Halsin...Or the frat boy Rizz of Gale...You know what, maybe thats the problem. Maybe Wyll just isnt adult themed enough. Everyone else has some sort of adult theme. Lazel least of all but even she has more in her than Wyll. I bet if that changed he'd resonate with people. As it stands it just seems like all he talks about is being this super hero and then doing absolutely nothing.
i mean the other characters feel like they are part of something big and important. Shadowheart is a follower of Shar with a main quest in Baldurs Gate that seems incredibly central to the entire plot of the game. Astarion seems to have people hunting him and he seems to be doing his own thing while eveyrone else sleeps. Lazel belongs to the other Gith who are also doing their own thing off screen. Gale has his..unfortunate...internal companion. The only one with nothing is Wyll. I mean he has that patron, and when we get to meet her, she will be more popular than he ever was.
Wyll could be a great companion. Especially if we some blade of frontiers quests in baldurs gate to go do some super heroing with him, that could really be awesome. like you get to be part of this growing legend. in fact, if you can SHAPE the legend of the blade of frontiers, that could be awesome. Or if his legend changes based on actions you take, like choices you make in the main quest influence the decisions he makes off screen to lead to him doing some other fancy things he otherwise wouldn't have done, letting you feel like you're influencing him. They could do a lot with wyll.
Er, no. I feel like it's far too late in development for them to have recast the voice and the face model.
Probably just means his lines were changed.
After what Adam said about Wyll & Karlach,, I'd like to think that he kills people as a hero for hire now.
Wyll was also known as a monster hunter, so that's likely why he has an eye out for Karlach? Probably thinks of her as prey to add to his figurative trophy wall of other dead villains & monsters.
This confuses the hell out me though, since how can he desire someone like Laezel...while having disdain for Karlach? She seems much nicer than the gith, & makes me wonder if he knows something about her that the party doesn't.
Are you kidding me,, Wyll has a lot of sex appeal.
This is why War Maiden even wrote romances about him, & Kiana would post screenshots on how much she's attracted to him. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/discussions/5/3160957541894456730
How about asking the ladies what they think,, instead of making a judgement on his sex appeal as a fellow man.
^ This could explain why I like him so much. 😉
We both know that was going to happen regardless if both of them were well-written or not.
Don't you remember how Larian said there's going to be multiple endings for all the companions? Therefore I'm pretty sure that's what Larian was going to do for Wyll, even before he got rewritten.
Basically you'll get everything you asked for,, just gotta be patient now.
Wyll doesn't want her,, he just wanted Laezel. 😅
I don't respect that gith whatsoever, & Wyll shouldn't have to either! (Yet who am I to tell him who he should love & respect? If that's who he desires cannon-wise,, then imma make his dreams come true.)
Mark my words though,, if Wyll's rewritten to have feelings for someone else. Then it's goodbye to that 304 Laezel..
Don't care enough about Gale to determine if he a complete chad or not,, but one thing is for certain Jiren.
All of the companions are simps for somebody, while the biggest has got to be Laezel & Gale.
Now people might say that it's actually Wyll,, & that's simply not the case anymore.
^ And where's mommy,, I still haven't seen her in BG3 yet? https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/discussions/0/3552805589765950892
Did you know that Wyll sees the good in him, which could come back to bite him. (Both figuratively & literally.)
His personality was meaningful enough for me... 🦸🏾♂️😻
Wyll because he's a devil worshiper who is stupid enough to believe his patron will release him from their contract just because he asks her to.
Karlach because she's a vile hellspawn with an infernal engine installed in her chest. You know those machines are fueled by souls of the damned, right!?
Yeah, I'm really surprised to not have a hexblade subclasse release.
Same. I can't wait for the new Wyll, even if he will be not in my party.
Certain people don't like ice-cream mixed with chocolate in it,, & that's okay. 🍨🤢
So instead of forcing yourself to like a person like Wyll, how about just saying that he makes you puke? There's no need to sugar coat it with your "boring" remarks..
I find Gale is boring instead,, which translates to "I hate his stinking guts! And he makes me vomit,, & is the scum between my toes!"
Good!
Wyll should continue to stand out,, above the official crowd of D&D's heroes!

^ Just like how I'm still not in your "party," even though we've been in the same camp for awhile now?
But I bet if War Maiden & Jack wanted to adventure with you...then you'd immediately take them right?! (While I'm like another Wyll,, who you'll never find worthy to hangout with on Steam.)
Oh and can you do me a favor, & ask GQ to invite me back to our soap group? I accidently left it, & didn't realize it until now. 🤥 https://steamcommunity.com/groups/mysoaps
Considering he was the most fleshed out and in depth character during EA in terms of background (Dev words not mine) you definitely better hope for a hell of a lot more from the characters in the game as a whole.
There was nothing boring about Wyll but you did have to be able to pay attention, listen to the dialogue and put 2 and 2 together to begin piecing together his background and motivations.
His personality anoyed me.
Just make his Succubus Patron the companion instead.
There you have it. She would have made a perfect Warlock, and an excellent foil to the "Tiefling Blood War veteran suddenly turned good" Karlach.
Instead they chose to wrangle this boring character, as if he could be fixed by shuffling bits of his story around. Only good for a Dark Urging, it seems.
Again someone who has no idea or cares to around his background.... and being that he and Gale have the same foundational background one would wonder where this comes from. Either because it's surface level "Oh he rubs me the wrong way because he's a braggart" or something... else.
There's nothing to fix. It was already funny as some people tried to claim he was the weakest character only to have that dispelled to have it instead stated that background and character story wise he was the strongest... at least for EA.
The only thing *wrong* with Wyll is his subclass fits his situation but not his theme. So in some ways his character from a statistical point of view don't seem in line of what one would choose based on his combat style.
