How do I approach as a beginner?
So I used to play this game some time ago, about 2019 or so, when there was straightforward campaign and the farm hub, never even got to strikes or raids.

Now I want to dive into D2 a bit deeper, but as I finished a couple of tutorial (I suppose) questlines, I got to a point where it’s just me and a hell of activities. Tried to look for guides, but they all seem to be outdated. For exampe, I’ve looked for a power guide and all I found is 1800(1810) is a cap, but I’ve met ppl 1840+ in pvp.

I just want some clear understanding of what should I do, what should I focus on first, second e.t.c
If you guys could just direct me where should I start, I’d be mostly grateful. I love how this game feels and I really want to experience all that it offers

P.S. I also really want to go for DLCs and I’ve got myself two of them while they were on sale, but I have absolutely no idea where the main game ands and dlc starts.

That's the cool part, you don't. As such, there is no longer a main game. The main game is a cosmodrome quest, strikes, crucible, gambit, dares of eternity, one dungeon and 3 raids. Everything else is DLC. You can play them in any order you want, you won't find a understandable competent story here anyway.

Where should you start? Complete the story campaigns of the DLCs you bought. Complete the quests to unlock subclasses and some exotic items that Ikora gives you. Specifically now, in the background, you can do the event quest.

You don't, I Stopped playing cause they killed all the old stuff with vaulting.
They retire stuff to force new purchases, I'm very shocked it still has active players.

Well for me this game is just a great way to relax, put up some music and chill like I’m playing some mmo, there’s is nothing like D2 that can offer such experience to me.

Do they retire DLC content as well though? As I’ve read they are going to release one last massive update with a couple phases. Could they remove something that’s currently in the game when that time comes?

Thanks! I guess I should just play through the DLC’s stories then!

If by 2019 you mean when the game came to Steam, year one content was free to play then but was removed a bit over a year later. The "main" stories are the expansion campaigns.

The pinnacle cap is now 1810, your level is gear plus artifact power, so an 1810 with artifact power, 1840 is not so uncommon.

As to what to focus on, how am I to know that? You could do the Vanguard playlist, Gambit, PvP, the campaigns in your expansions, whatever you want.

They have in the past but it was once, three years ago. People like to say "don't buy DLC because bungie will remove it" when they haven't done it in ages. They probably won't remove DLC content with the next big update
As for the "there is no mmo chill like destiny 2" part I heavily agree. Too many people play this game for way too long and become obsessed over every little thing. The only other game that's kinda close is warframe and that game sucks ass
If you lose the FOMO mindset and play for a chill time, D2 is extremely fun

One thing i hope is that they would at least announce D3 soon enough to get me hyped. Pretty sure there is going to be 3rd game cause Sony invested in Bungie 2 years ago hopefully not to just finish series

Pretty sure there won't be, at least not for a long time. Bungie has stated multiple times in the past they have no plans for a Destiny 3

If they had any content worth playing, i would say, do that, but what they have left and added in, is just not worth the time it takes to do them.....the campaigns they stupidly took out were the only good parts of the game, the rest is like a seasonal repetitive crappy mess.

They just got too lazy to do anything worthwhile and the price tag is just insulting.

For them to do a destiny 3, they first need a plot that the good story writers have long since left their company.....the stories of the crap DLCs are proof of that.

DLC and seasons are the main "structured" content otherwise you play what gives you the loot you want.

I don't know if this will help but it might give you something: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2691498745

Not really. By the end of the second day I had the skimmer from my first try of the nightfall and like 10 of each of the guns

What a load of crap. I still remember all the people complaining about year one content then people saying Forsaken saved the game, the best parts of Forsaken are still in the game. Beyond Light was better than year one, Witch Queen was better yet, some would argue that Witch Queen was the best, it was my favorite.

Not really, just watch the focused events and when it's clear what class is going to win, join with that class (don't join at all until you know what class) and profit, do that three times and you have the skimmer. The rest is just do as much or little as you want. You want the title, deal with the grind, if not, no big deal.

I disagree.

When the game first come out, there was 'The Red War' that was a good campaign, i completed it dozens of times, then there was 'The curse of Osiris', not as good as 'The Red War' but it occupied my mind as i went through the story, then there was 'Warmind' Not as good as 'The Red War' but as i said before, it occupied my mind, While i agree Forsaken was a good Campaign, it is no longer in there, just 2 missions, one shows the Death of Cayde 6 and the introduction of 'The Dreaming City' which used to be part of the bigger Forsaken Campaign.

I am guessing when they released the Seasons, they found out that it is more profitable to bring out shorter, cheaper stories that are so poorly written, it is sad, but add in a season pass for 4 poorly written stories/seasons for a high price tag of a DLC....people are eating it up and all Bungie sees is $$$ or £££ or whatever your currency symbol is.

They have taken out things we paid for and replaced them with something worse.

While the Witch Queen did have a story, it only took 4hrs to complete, but only because of the stupid puzzles, but once solved, it takes 2hrs to complete, that is NOT worth the price tag.

That is why i said its not worth playing, because Bungie are lazy and their products are not worth the price tag they set...especially the Destiny 2 DLCs.

The stories are not as good as the Original Campaign and the three following campaigns, which they removed......idiotic.
