There is a variety of free content to play if you want to try it out to see if you want to get back in: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2691498745
Game play wise though, fantastic. There are a few things that feel a little over tuned in terms of difficulty. But in general the game is so fun to play right now.
That's a lot of things to do lol, thanks.
I just wanna know if I'm going to be overwhelmed by things that I missed, which is for sure like A LOT, lol.
I don't really mind about the story, I'm just concerned about being overwhelmed by things I've missed and whether I could keep up or not as a solo player. As for the fun part, I'm sure it is way more fun now since I had a blast back then playing this game when it was still barebones imo.
I mean, at the end of the day it all depends on what you are looking out of the game. I have found in my brief time with the game that it accommodates well for almost everyone. Like there are so many activities in the game you can pick and chose what you want. If you want something casual you can do the standard campaign, do standard strikes crucible and gambit with friends. If you are the sort of player looking for targets you can plays the seasonal activities and try and unlock all the craftable stuff. If you want to go hard you can do dungeons, raids and GMs. You can go full sweat lord and do Trials.
For example, myself, I am a Quake player. Quake is a fast pace, mentally demanding game. I play D2 as a chill out. I think I am pretty good when it comes to the mechanics of D2 but I feel no obligation to do raids or GMs as that would defeat the purpose of why I am playing.
And this I think you should keep in mind when worrying about "keeping up". Unless you are intending to go chasing top end activities then don't worry about catching up with other people. Enjoy the climb to power cap like is the point of any looter shooter. But don't stress over s*** like the pinnacle grind unless GMs and master Raids are what you want to do.
And if you ever need a wing man in any activity feel free to add me as a friend. I'm usually on shooting something most nights of the week. :-)
You'd have access to mostly everything (assuming you have the required DLC's), and there's matchmaking for most content too but you'd be unable to do Raids since they require quite a bit of coordination or friends / LFG
Dungeons, Strikes and harder vanguard missions are all do-able completly solo, but again they might be tough..
tl;dr It'll be difficult doing solo higher level content and raids are pretty much useless to do without a fireteam avaliable.
Good luck though and have fun
So as long as I still do activities via matchmaking (when it's available) and am in a clan, I'm good to go, right? Planning to get DLCs since they're on sale now.
Every other activity, Strikes, Story Missions, Vanguard Missions, Gambit, PVP (Trials of Osiris, Casual, Competitive & Iron Banner), Lost Sectors, Seasonal Story Missions either are perfectly fine doing solo and most have the ability to matchmake.
If you can afford it I'd recommend getting the witchqueen expansion and do that campaign first to unlock weapon crafting. I didn't know this and it would have saved me a lot of hassle farming weapon drops from lightfall, never mind the exotic gun you craft once the witchqueen campaign is S tier in most folks eyes.
PVP is still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Bungie simply cannot help themselves. Every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time they nerf the last OP as ♥♥♥♥ submachine gun they add the next one in. Seriously just avoid it best you can.
thanks for the heads up, I'm planning to get the DLCs so good to know.
What's new with the PvE sandbox?
Yes, I'm not really a fan of D2 PvP but might still want to try for pinnacle gears.
Not sure how far back you're wanting as new but all 3 Light subclasses have now been updated to the 3.0 version, allowing higher quality build-crafting with helpful benefits to assist in making each subclass unique and useful
We currently have two 'Darkness' subclasses added, Stasis (Beyond Light, 2020) and now Strand (Lightfall, 2023) both are on Update 3.0 for the subclasses with their own unique additions to the game
As of Lightfall, quite a few strikes have been modified, making them take slightly longer and tougher to complete, removing old voicelines or straight up the removal of a few old, outdated strikes (Could be incorrect on that last part.)
There has also been a few new strikes added to the playlist, they're longer and tougher as they were missions from previous seasons, e.g. Mars Heist Battleground (Released in Season of the Seraph, S19)
Armour Builds have changed yet again, Warmind Cells, Wells and many other mods have been removed with the Lightfall update, it may appear slightly confusing for returning players but you'll get the hang of it - if in doubt, experiment or look up tutorials.
In the removal of those mods, there is now a focus on 'Orbs of Light' mods, both in the creation and use of them plus a new feature called 'Armour Charges' that work like;
You create / pick up an Orb of Light >
You get Super energy PLUS an Armour Charge
The Armour Charge will slowly count down and deteriorate if there is a mod currently enabled, giving you a ~10 second buff / buffs, e.g; Increased Resilience or Grenade uptime, Increased damage on a certain weapon type that stacks (e.g. Arc x2) or giving yourself higher damage resistance.
Plus many more additions and changed to the PvE sandbox, I can't recall many more but hopefully that's helpful.
Good luck in the PvP sandbox, it can be frustrating at times but it can be helpful to jump in there from time to time - No need to force yourself though.
that's quite a lot to digest lol, thanks a bunch!
oh right, I still have my trusty weapons from Forsaken days, Go Figure and Trust. Are they sunsetted or can I still use them and increase their cap?
