You sound like me, and I have a great time in D2.
I used to be big into mmos but now I can't be doing with all the investment.
Run bounce float around collect knick knacks and doodads shoot ♥♥♥♥ up and tick off achievements and such in a gloriously painted universe full of epic fx with no need for human interaction if you don't feel like it.
What's not to like?
Thanks I shall play it for at least a few hours. A family relative has worked at Bungie for several years, so I thought I should support what he does for a living. :)
In Borderlands, you can wander about a map shooting things, open chest, get little side missions.
In Destiny 2, you can, well pretty much the same thing, but the bounties (little side missions) are renewed and changed every day and there are patrols you can pick up from little markers about the map.
I suggest Mez Koo's guide and try the free part to make up your own mind.
The game has lots and lots of destinations, lost sectors, random public events, etc. There's plenty to explore without ever joining a fire team (in my opinion).
