Oh well, it was fun while it lasted
I applaud the latest update. But I am now one of those whiners that now can't run the game since HG changed the driver requirements. I have an Alienware Aurora R4 with GTX 690 and can't install the driver above 378.78 else I get DPC Watchdog Violation. Believe me I've tried every remedy that can be found on the internet and just can't get past it. So now I can't play this game at all, unless I can downgrade it to the version prior to the latest. Anyone know how to do that?

That's odd, the 690 shows as being supported by all drivers released to this date.

Have u perhaps tried formatting and reinstalling W7 from scatch ? Generally speaking its the most surefire way of fixing software problems.

Also try getting the nvidia drivers from alienware/dell directly, I hear that might work. Yikes, last driver there is from 2015 :(

Not sure , never owned the 690, but you could still play the game in the future when, and if, you upgrade to Windows 10 and grab a new video card. It will still be an option then, if not right now with your current system build.

Yep, that's it chief.
690 is on the list as well.

Weird that Nvidia doesn't include it in the drivers.

Make sure you are using DCH drivers and not standard, alienware/dell are picky like that.

I'm on Windows 10. Ever since one of Microsoft's major updates (a couple of years ago) it's been problematic. Hey look I'm not complaining. It is what it is. I'd like to be able to go back to an earlier version of the game. Is that possible?

His issue is the computer, Dell is weird how it handles driver updates....most computers will accept standard drivers, where dell requires DCH drivers.

I don't know what you mean. Every driver above 378.78 causes DPC Watchdog Violation.

The R4?.. Checked your bios lately?.. When I was making sure my new GTX 1080 wasn't going to be a problem, found the bios mine came with were way outdated. Think the versions up to A11 (?) or some such.. Watchdog sounds like it may be bios related.. maybe. Kinda guessing a bit ;)

"DCH" (Declarative, Componentized, Hardware Support Apps) refers to new packages preinstalled by OEMS implementing the Microsoft Universal Driver paradigm.
