The first step on the Anti-mage's quest to wipe the stain of magic off the face of the world was to infiltrate the ranks of the best spellcasters and learn their weaknesses. He sought out the Crimson Wyverns, a renown clan of battle mages who specialised in fighting other mages in physical combat. Knowing not his intentions, the Wyverns took in the haunted child they found at their doors and raised him as one of their own.

By day he trained in the Wyvern's unique art of martial combat. By night the Anti-mage pored over the few remaining Turstarkuri scrolls that he had managed to salvage. One particular night he came across a scroll that told of a blind monk who had meditated on the topic of anti-magic. The monk's blindness granted him serenity, allowing him to better sense magic (or lack of it) in others. His writings contained powerful anti-magics which stopped magic effectiveness, or sundered mana from a spellcaster, killing them from within.

On the day of his Wyvern initation the Wyverns presented the Anti-mage with a set of Crimson Wyvern armour. The armour had been designed to be lightweight, yet was capable of deflecting the strongest of magical blows.

Donning his newest prized possession, the Anti-mage faced the Wyverns to begin the initiation. They took turns to pepper him with spells as he faithfully performed the movements they had taught him. At the end of the test he emerged completely unscathed, something that had never occured before in Wyvern history. As the Wyverns gathered to applaud him the Anti-mage sensed in them a great tiredness. A huge void which begged his very attention. Raising his hands he exposed the void in their most drained spellcaster. Magical energy flooded back into the doomed Wyvern, killing the entire clan in one fell swoop.
