well.the second one seemed hard at first...But just because I thought That laser wall needs two lasers to get disabled ... !..After I saw there are two walls in There it was pretty easy. Actually the whole test wasn't hard ..just needed some attention and locating power !(for locating all those stuff !)....nice one.

I just wanted to tell you that i almost cheated. I try to limit my cheating to not take away from the game. I added one more laser cube too make a total of 3. and at the last secound i solved it with the original cubes and the one i made. I wanted to say this becuase I think it was just dumb luck that i figered it out in the end.

laser puzzle is a bit fiddly and requires knife edge precision :/

Good map - part 1 has a clean solution, you don't need to rescue the companion cube .

I agreee with TS_Mind_Swept about the companion cube. One of the points of the "How To Make Great Puzzles" sticky post in the discussion forum is to not have red herrings. Other than portable panels, the player should be able to assume every element is relevant.

YOU STUPID WITH THE COMPANION CUBE! well i had a little trouble with the first area, but as soon as i figured out to turn the reflector cube to face the far wall instead of the one 2 inches from it the solution no longer evaded me. As for the 2nd part, it was kind of like =(BL)= Natsuke said, I messed around with the laser a bit, and then ended up happening on the solution faster than i thought i was going to. 8/10

Perfect. Hard enough that I enjoy solving and it takes a considerable amount of time and thought, but not so hard that I ever get stuck. In the Portal 2 documentary, they talk about this sweet spot of difficulty, and you've reached it. Well done.

@ProfDave64 Thanks, im actually making a sequel series to this at the minute and as odd as it is, this was only the 2nd ever hammer map I made, (I went back to make Part 0 xD ) So I still had a lot to learn about making good puzzles, I try to keep a good variety of elements as you play through the series, some flinging later on xD

I just read all the comments. Apparently, I received the benefits of everyone else's playtesting and feedback, because the level I played was pretty sweet!

I can think of some general ideas / suggestions, but I don't know if you're even still making levels, so I'm not sure you need them. But, okay, here's one:

There's no questioning your awesome design, surprises, etc., but the puzzles felt a little... "one story?" At a couple points, I felt like I was walking around on a single floor, barely using portals at all other than to line up lasers.

But the rest of the awesomeness easily makes up for that details. And Dilapidation 0 showed that you have no trouble with jumps and heights and the joys of portal-flying!

Second room had to be the most ridiculous cube placement move I've ever done (I set it through a portal to get it lined up properly, and it was still mostly luck

Very nice, thumbs up! I found this less difficult than Part 0 (I didn't have to cheat and look at the solution video) and so agree with the "Medium/Hard Difficulty" rating.

The first room of this map was good but the second room I just don't care for "laser webs" or "activate all laser relays that line-up crookedly BWAHAHAHA" tests. Those kind of tests I just try to get creative and attempt pixel perfect line-up just to get through not caring what the real solution is.

OK it took a lot of thought on my part. The F5 button sure helps. But patients pays off in the end. Yeessss I made it, and it makes you feel real good too. Now for #2, :) Well I mean Part 2 of the series.
