Great map .One of the best i played so far. I can't wait to play part 2 and 3.
Hard, but doable. The last part turning the cube was the most difficult for me to perform..
Can you test my Tunnel room as well? I've updated it to make it a bit harder (still much easier then yours :) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=555616232

@Watilin:
Thanks for playing my maps, glad u are liking them. I strongly recomend to finish the Cubelesness trilogy and to the Monoportal ones, they have a different aproach to them and way of thinking with portals.
Watilin Sep 2, 2015 @ 2:28pm
My brain burns.

You really have to think hard to discover these "unconventionnal" ways. I read the desc after finishing the level so I wasn't sure this was the official way, but now I can't doubt anymore.

I found that the first of these techniques (by order of encounter) is a bit unreliable-- the randomness of physics makes so that sometimes objects tend to slip out. I hope I'm not spoiling by saying this.
The second is more reliable but requires some skill to achieve.

I also liked the part where you have one fixed portal which you cannot move. Maps with this feature stump me every time...

Excellent work ;)

I somehow got 8 of your maps in my queue from somewhere and they were all good. Will definitely check out some more as I get time. Well done!

I would say medium difficulty, because the size of the map implies a little more difficulty than there is; good well designed and I saw no shortcuts; very well done with the cubes and portaling; maybe using two cubes to exit would be a little more difficult to solve; thumbs up.

@Spaceminnow:
Hahahahaha....glad u beat it...yeah its hard.
Spaceminnow Jul 23, 2015 @ 1:13pm
Holy crap that was hard exit puzzle. I did it with some patient thinking :) This puzzle was so hard I thought the character had to eat the cube and crap it out past a fizzer lol!

@heppin:
Thanks man! If you liked this be sure to play part 2 and 3!
Cheers!

Outstanding! I really like the ones where you have to think a bit! :)

Thanks Draxar, glad you liked it!

Brilliant!
Petutski Jan 10, 2015 @ 2:22pm
Nicely done! The unconventional techniques were ok, but a bit glitchy. Thanks for a great map!

Brilliant map. Clever and elegant.
The difficulty is very difficult but not abo.
I just had an issue with the exit door : it didn't want to open !

@Mike:

Thanks, hope you enjoyed it.

Great puzzle. Solving it made me feel smart (and dumb).

Exellent!

Ok now i can hand it to you this one was very well designed complex but not too complex it made me think about it and thats what i look for in a chamber very good and thank you for recommending these too me and yes i was probably rude in my last comment however i apologize and now understand the complexity for each chamber some people like easy and some like hard so thank you sir very good maps.... I hope too see more like this!!!!
Sloi Apr 6, 2013 @ 4:00pm
Nice map design. (Compartmentalized to make it easier to stay situated.)
Not terribly difficult. (I was able to do it high, so it can't be that hard. ^.^)

I can see why Mevious fav'd your stuff.

Thanks, glad u liked it.

this map was about cube control. Nice
The Sojourner Dec 12, 2012 @ 3:18am
Somehow, after having troubles with this previously, I manage to get a piece of cake out of this one :P

The solution (or the lighting) isn't particularly clean, and I managed to finish with one extra cube, however it's still an incredible test. 4/5 overall, with a 10/0 for difficulty.
Ale Dec 11, 2012 @ 12:09pm
Very well designed, like a map should be: complex in the initial phase, then gradually going on from chamber to chamber. I have to say that i played cubelessness 2 but i found this better. Favorited!

@ken.roberts:
Yes, that's the easy way (and intended) way to do it. And yes, Metzger's solution is very frustrating.....u will never do it like that....that's why that's not the intended solution....but its a way to make it happen....
ken.roberts Nov 29, 2012 @ 9:08am
Pointing the cube up to the Laser Catcher is cake.
The walkthrough video by Metzger had a lot of frustration and several minutes on that part. I simply stand on cube and slowly back up to point it UP .

@Aardvark64:
Ok, now that I understood where...let me read again and try to get the idea.
Thanks
Aardvark00 Nov 6, 2012 @ 2:27am
@Mathey Sorry, I mean the area near the exit door. Roll the cube and push into laser to direct upwards, then I mean the button opposite the exit door which turns off the large fizzler and closes the exit when stood on. Hope it's clear now :)
Mathey2009  [author] Nov 5, 2012 @ 10:58am
@Aardvark64:
After placing the reflective cube where?
What is the laser bay?
When u say press the button, which one?
U need to be more specific, the map is huge...theres a lot of places with buttons....and what is a laser bay really?
Its practically impossible to understand ur explanation.....sorry lol
Aardvark00 Nov 5, 2012 @ 9:24am
Thanks for that. I suppose there must be a matching demo recorder gizmo. I don't know how to do that but I can describe the exploit very easily. After placing the reflector cube put a portal in the wall opposite the laser bay. Stand on the button and put the other portal in the wall next to the exit. When you get off the button the exit will open and because the laser continues to keep the fizzler off you can just portal across and leave! This white wall tile is needed at the start so you could replace it with a one way bypass across the goo involving a step down on black tiles perhaps? Enjoyed this a lot BTW.

@Aardvark64:
U go to Portal 2 main menu. Press SHIFT+F2
That will bring a window that lets u load the dem files u have to put in the following directory in your PC:
C/Program Files (x86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/portal2/portal2

Oncd the.dem file is in that directory u play the video with the window u opened in the main menu.

BTW, how did u solve the map without the funnel? Can u record a demo and post it here please?
Thanks
Aardvark00 Nov 5, 2012 @ 4:25am
Just finished this (at last) but the part I was stuck on wasn't actually either of the unconventional bits.Reading here about the laser afterwards I had just pushed the cube off the edge of the LB without jumping on it and it rolled over first time . I found that I didn't need to use the transporter beam at all to exit so I wanted to watch your dem file to see what you intended but despite following some instructions I googled I couldn't get it to play. Can you point me towards the right method of playing dem files please?
Mathey2009  [author] Oct 29, 2012 @ 10:54am
@Metzger Ben | GER :
Yeah, I saw in the video u posted that u tried to do the cube trick. But u just did it incorrectly: u tried while it was half standing on the LB, then never tried again. If u step on in on the edge and then pull back it should flip over every time, in not on the second or third try.
Metzger Ben | GER Oct 29, 2012 @ 10:35am
I tried (mybe not in the video) to jump on the cube but I found no ledge to slip the cube because when holding the cube is always leveling. At first I thought the lasersource has some kind of solid metal to let the cube fall on and so have the lense face at the top. But there was non. That's why I had so much trouble. The puzzle solution itself was clear :-)
Mathey2009  [author] Oct 29, 2012 @ 6:54am
@Metzger Ben | GER:
I have the map's solution right up there on the maps description. If u didnt understand the thing about the reflective cube, then I suggest u watch the video. I did the trick in my first try. It not very hard to do, its very easy.
Mathey2009  [author] Oct 29, 2012 @ 6:48am
@Metzger Ben | GER:
Dude, I noticed u getting complicated with the last puzzle. There's a very well know method to make a reflective cube to stand up with the reflective face upwards. U gotta step on the cube but like on the edge of the cube and then move backwards, all done a little quick. Then the cube should stand upwards, then u just push the cube to the laser, not grab it, cuz when u ghran it then the reflextive face of the cube faces forwards again.

Mathey2009  [author] Oct 26, 2012 @ 3:05pm
@Metzger Ben | GER:
That is a random result, and also an intended execution. That's what the introductory room is for.
Metzger Ben | GER Oct 26, 2012 @ 9:28am
Is that cube dancing because of a difficult placed lightbridge beneath indended? because that is very random in result.
Mathey2009  [author] Oct 17, 2012 @ 2:12pm
thanks man....glad u liked it....ur gonna love the second part then...its even better than this, and even harder.
toncica Oct 17, 2012 @ 1:19pm
See, this one I liked. You put effort into making a non-trivial puzzle and it kept me busy and entertained while playing.
zazaza Oct 7, 2012 @ 6:35am
headache-inducingly complicated. I don't currently have patience for this, but will try to solve it later.. hopefully.
Mathey2009  [author] Sep 21, 2012 @ 3:21pm
@grim_on_mbient:
Thanks man....thought u would say something negative about the map...hope u liked it...u should try "Cubelessness 2"....it's harder and with no unconventional methos...
Grim on Mbient Sep 21, 2012 @ 1:55pm
I tried to do this one without any help or tutorial but in the end I needed an tutorial because I read a lot about using an unconventional method... this made me stop thinking clearly and thought the difficulties I had, had to do with the unconventional method.
Once I saw the walkthrough (after hours of trying) I hit myself very hard!
Very well done - most difficult map ever!
Manifest Breastiny Sep 18, 2012 @ 3:33pm
Looks absolutely brutal (in a good way :D) Will have to try this, I've been playing a lot of easy maps recently and i need a challenge.
zivi7 Sep 2, 2012 @ 9:50am
Nice, with one exception: the laser catcher on the ceiling. By now everybody knows the trick and it's no longer puzzling but annoying to do it. Everything else was nice. ;)

Dude whats your problem?
First u post that it is so easy, now u post again telling its hard (and being ironic, we're not stupid).
