It's a bit darker than the original, yes. ;)

beside some changed terrains this just contains some more of my other replacements like mountains and berry bushes.

But there were several requests to not include these, so I switched back to the 'old' setup in v6 - and redid some terrains that weren't that popular like the v5 desert one.

So I would only recommend v5 in case you like the exact terrains in this pack. If not I would recommend to use v4 or v6 and perhaps take a look at my other replacements like mines, trees, roads and mountains. Most of them are available in several variants and grouped in collections so you can find them more easily.

My packs are 'just' sort of examples of possible compilations. :)

For now the only solution is to delete the trees you don't want manually.

But I can upload a mod just containing the terrains, you then have to add the cliffs and mines seperatelly if you want to use them. Or I could publish the default trees as a seperate mod, overwriting the included trees froom other mods.

I like your texture packs a lot but, to me, the pine trees just look awful. Is there any way I can use your texture pack and have it use default pine tree textures?

All terrains work with every version, so yes it's usable with FE.
But for I released it before FE was released, it doesn't changes FEs new rock terrain and doesn't take FEs new types of terrain placement into account.

Therefore I would recommend to subscribe to my beach & rock enhancement after this, fixing all 'missing' parts. You can easily find it in my full texture pack collection linked above.

This piece of work is basic for this game, Hidden Path should have hired the author to make the new art. With this, your game will be truly HD. 100% Recommended, no problems, no drawbacks. Essential.

Sorry, don't know what that could be, normally no textures (beside the unit reskin mod due to its implementation) cause sync errors.

I really like your pack, but it seems for some reason it crashes my servers.
i often play with buddies, but when i try to use any texture-related mods it just crashes the game.
Do you have any idea of what's causing that and how to fix it?

OK, I checked the section and for some reason it's like I said with the other one, the graphic is massivly displaced in the slp file.

Thanks a lot for mentioning, wouldn't have noticed it myself I fear (too little actually playing myself^^)

I'll upload a corrected one soon!

(I just checked it, this problem as even in the first upload of the unchanged, grey starwas battleground ones present...)

Thanks for the help but it didn't work,
I took two screen shoots and uploaded them in the in the sky drive link u sent.
there u can see the exact section that bugs.
It is only the texture of the cliff, I tried to run over the area I placed it but I couldn't.

For the cliffs. Beside the normal things like cliffs shouldn't be placed on elevations but only on plain areas - regardless of it's elevation level, try this:


Place the file in your AoE\data\slp folder, overwriting the existing one.
In case it's gone now, it's the one cliff section contained in this file, thats graphic is a bit displaced.
AoE sets a base area for collision and produced units and such - and a place for the graphic, but they aren't connected, so you could place a buildings graphic 3 tiles away from its base area, resulting in an empty space that can't be crossed and burns when the unit is damaged - and a buildings graphic without any collision/use somewhere else.

Ozhara, I have played this game since it came out back in 1999, may I say the game has never looked better after I started using this texture pack, great job
But recently I noticed that the cliff textures bugs.
I don't know why, because I have no mods that It could collide with.
But one section of the cliffs textures facing away from you vanishes or jumps to another area some distance from where you placed them, when being in the map editor.
Any idea what might be wrong.

Glad to hear you like my land terrains.

For the water, my main goal was to stretch the 'floating' wave effect accross the whole screen, but for this effect is the stronger the deeper the water is (it's a game setting, not mine), this kind of annihilates depth differences.

In every version I'm trying to find a good compromise, but as you can see, none of them will please everyone.

For a file is changed by the last subscribed mod changing it, you can easily subscribe to another water mod after this one.

In case the water you like most isn't available seperately, you could ask it's autor to do such a seperate water mod, or you could try my Mod Manager.
With this tool you can easily just install parts of mods or mix them. And even save such mixes as your own personal mod for easier use.

Everything looks great but the one thing that's stopping me from subscribing is that blasted water. It just doesn't look that great. I've seen some other great texture re-works for water, including the introduction of varying depth. I'd recommend getting permission to include that in your bundle to make it perfect.

Yes it will. It just doesn't change the additional FE rock terrain and the terrains aren't optimized for some new FE terrain effects (some of them can now be placed in other ways than before).

Beside this, there are others (including me^^) that like this desert, and you can easily combine this mod with any other desert texture by using my Mod Manager.
With the next release (hopefully this weekend) you can even save this change as a new, personal mod.

Because steams workshop mod update is really buggy and never worked for me (and many others) after the first try. It says it was succesfull, but nothing changed.

Every file is only replaced by the last subscribed mod changing it.

So in case you subscribe to cinematic water after my mod, it will overwrite my water.

Just in case you want to have a look around for some other waters, I published different water mods (you can find them in my collection of water mods) but some of them aren't available on their own until now. My grim & gritty terrain pack contains the newest version.

So in case you would like to use my kind of water, but one that can't be subscribed seperately until now, just tell me.

Thank you for your work. I'd like to ask you something, I really like the textures you made, except the water. I think it's too bright. Can I use a different mod for it? I was using one called "cinematic water" but when I installed this, that water was replaced by yours. Hope it's not a stupid question, hahah. Keep up the good work!

Others mentioned the same, so I'll change it back to a more sandy look in the next version.

Idea was to create a less plain looking terrain than in v4 without too much 'sand dunes', as that much 'structured' terrains mostly doesn't look that good at elevations.
So I mixed the v4 sand with my snow terrain and some other layers.

As a workaround, you can use my Mod Manager to install just the desert terrain out of every other mod over this one. (there are some things that have to be considered, so I recommend to read the manual before using it)
