Excellent puzzle!Def a challenging map,I really enjoyed:steamhappy:,though the final step took me a night!Honestly I have three thoughts about how to get the ball
1st let the franken cube go to the faith plate then make a quick move back to the pedestal butt(failed)
2nd let one cube fill in before the fizzler triggered, then jump in and take the ball out(failed)
3rd let the ball keep respawning last longer, need to arrange the position of the cube reasonably before(succeed)

Woah, crazy map. A bit too much going on for my tastes but it was a very fun experience and satisfying to do those last couple of moves. Took a good amount of time to solve. Big thumbs up.
jandlml Jun 4, 2016 @ 8:22pm
ok now im confused haha
toncica  [author] Jun 4, 2016 @ 6:10pm
Here's a general hint: "Polux the destroyer" (almost) never posts the intended solution. Of course that is not how you're supposed to solve the map.

Part of it is intended, but you're not getting getting the cube back the way Polux did. The flinging maneuver and pressing the pedestal button is only supposed to destroy the cube, which will help you after the cube has been put into the correct position.
jandlml Jun 4, 2016 @ 5:14pm
is the way polux got the cube the intended way flinging back and forth while hitting the dropper button if so than i cant finish this map. i tried and tried just cant do that maneuver. you guys are too good.
toncica  [author] Mar 8, 2016 @ 5:36am
@dire.fcs, I hope that last part went well. It should be all about thinking and not extreme timing or skill.
dire.fcs Mar 7, 2016 @ 5:53pm
Well this one was a huge map to solve, great set of tasks involved here, and every element has its purpose for sure, nice work; the last part to get the ball I was thinking a while how to properly get it when I first press the pedestal dropper ball button.
toncica  [author] Jan 27, 2016 @ 6:33am
Expertly broken, as always. Thanks for the demonstration. My first impression is that it doesn't demand fixing, who else would invest that level of skill. I'll think some more about doing an update, although I doubt I can make a 100% safe prison for Polux. ;)

I also solved it, without a doubt, as intended. Great puzzle, clean map.
I took some pleasure playing this one, thank you.

good map .no kengdie .pure logic..hhahaahah
toncica  [author] Dec 13, 2014 @ 6:13pm
Glad you enjoyed. The map looks pretty solid now indeed. Of course it wasn't like that when I made my first map, it evolved and only the turrets remain from the first draft, which gave the player a life expectancy of roughly 5 seconds. Really, it was just that - enter and get shot or learn to survive after a couple of deaths. I had to learn how to build a puzzle around the turrets. One of the first comments was:"There's challenging and there's frustrating..."
Ganymede Dec 13, 2014 @ 5:50pm
This map was a blast to solve! There were only a handful of parts that stumped me, but I figured them out within a few minutes. Everything else was mostly a lot of trying out things. The turrets were mildly annoying, but only as far as attempting unintended solutions went. Very satisfying watching them go down a little at a time.

I'll admit, I also tried the frankencube technique at the end. It wasn't until I came across your grate-floor that I realized the correct way.

This is extremely ambitious for a first map. I realize it's a remake, but if all the ideas were the same then I'm quite impressed.
Yuuubi Nov 7, 2014 @ 8:35am
Oh ok I thought it was the way intended, my bad
toncica  [author] Nov 6, 2014 @ 1:13am
The franken cube is not supposed to move anymore once it is out of its "prison cell". That's why there is grating on the floor. Maybe you watched a video that shows a solution with the franken cube moving but that was not the intended way and the timing to do that was too tough in my opinion, therefore I have prevented that alternative solution.
Yuuubi Nov 6, 2014 @ 12:23am
During your remake, it seems that you replaced the ground on which the franken turret has to move on at the very end by some grills and the franken turret cannot move on that surface, according to the tests I've done at least. I suggest you modify the ground on this part, I couldn't finish the puzzle because of that. By the way that's a great puzzle, very challenging !
toncica  [author] Jul 5, 2014 @ 11:12am
Thanks, and thanks for intense testing. You still found a couple of holes in these map that needed fixing.
Brave Jul 5, 2014 @ 11:09am
Challenging map/test that required lots of thinking for me to figured out, now I need to rest my brain... Good job toncica with map designing and putting together the puzzles!
toncica  [author] Jul 1, 2014 @ 6:44am
Not sure how that fizzler caused the issue but I removed it to be sure, also updated other parts. You should now never find yourself trapped when you try to kill the turrets before it's time, it rather ends with you being shot.
toncica  [author] Jun 30, 2014 @ 7:03am
Then it's mission accomplished. The map will never lose its traits of an overexcited first time mapping attempt, no matter how much I polish it. I'm looking into the issue that Dr. Strangelove exposed.
taplonaplo Jun 29, 2014 @ 4:52pm
Definitely felt like an improvement in terms of the ease of execution and more obvious connections without sacrificing too much of the original. I played with the old one first and that was hard as nails, but the ending of this one definitely made me think for a while as well.

Overall, slightly easier but more enjoyable i guess, too bad the final part doesn't involve the tractor beam i was the fan of that ,
toncica  [author] Jan 4, 2014 @ 3:37pm
Thanks for the feedback. You are right with that fizzler. Fixing the issues is not trivial because with three cubes there are so many combinations. It's already giving me a headache. ;)
I'll try to look into it sometime.
Dr. Strangelove Dec 24, 2013 @ 4:38am
Great map.

There is indeed one ninja move that allows you to get out of the turret area after you've killed them rambo style You put yourself on the cube and do a back jump to the corner while grabbing the cube. Then put the cube back to block the laser and the orange funnell will take you up over the lightbridge . Anyway though I solved the map now I still have to find the legit way to kill those turrets.

Also, perhaps you are already aware that once you manage to fizzle the sphere once, then it keeps on fizzling even if you put put the normal cube back in place and the X fizzler is off again. The timing is altered so it gets fizzled by the fizzler dwon the hole. Is that intended? Because I would have thought the intended solution is, once you've put the cube in place, to respawn another of the 3 cubes to block the laser to leave the X fizzler on full time. But that was actually not necessary.
Lalaland Dec 15, 2013 @ 2:59am
This map is definitely awesome and challenging. The last part of getting the ball is just mind blown. I had think around 2 hours just to figure out the way. Btw, there is a place you will get trapped if you not pressing the pedestral button before jumping down to the turrets.
kimist108 Oct 13, 2013 @ 6:34pm
Okay, you are an evil person. I ran and clicked the pedestal button for releasing the sphere with a big smile on my face. Then, when I turned around, joy turned to despair. You would not believe all the things I tried, before finally succeeding.
The Sojourner Sep 6, 2013 @ 8:52pm
Nope..still trapped in that one area in an attempt to kill off the turrets.
toncica  [author] Jul 5, 2013 @ 2:16am
Did you manage to get to the turrets in a way that could be remotely intended? Since it gets you trapped you can kill yourself in the water ( or, god forbid, stack turrets to get out on the other side ) but I also tried to make it impossible to get there in the first place.

In the franken cube room I remember it being possible to shoot over the glass but I didn't see how that would have any impact. If it saves you only a few seconds by not having to go back to the portal surface below then it's fine.
Prototype Jul 4, 2013 @ 11:27pm
On my blind run, I managed to get myself over to the ledge with the turrets on it, and killed them, only to find that I was trapped...after that I needed hints from the video to complete it

I did find one trick that perhaps you don't know about, in the upper section of the franken cube room (with the button and the lightbridge), you can jump and shoot a portal over the glass into the room with the franken dropper. It's not a bypass, but does save quite some time going back and forth to get the cube.
Kababesh May 22, 2013 @ 6:55pm
First run through this map I definitely felt like I was breaking out of somewhere.
toncica  [author] Apr 11, 2013 @ 4:15am
Thanks for trying. :) Let me know if you finish it. I carefully updated some details last night, basically just cosmetics, and there always remains some doubt if I missed something that allows an unintended solution in the final part. People have been very inventive to find ways for that part here and on the predecessor map. It's a thin line to streamline the intended solution while not opening up other ways.
Last minute addition: now there's a glass cage at the top of the main room for if the player wishes to take a look from above, it has no other relevance.
Nube52 Apr 10, 2013 @ 8:45pm
OK so far VERY difficult was so pround I got both Companion and Regualar cube in sane room, a trick in itself, but then noticed this shuts of my Blue gravity swirl. Will regroup my brain and return anothet time to ponder. layout is great intriquing,
toncica  [author] Mar 24, 2013 @ 9:05am
Map updated. The exploit in the franken cube room should now be even harder to do, if not impossible. Also updated to prevent the hard to execute solution in the final part.

@Slimpack, I don't see myself ever making coops. Maybe check out this guy: http://steamcommunity.com/id/powerful47/myworkshopfiles/
His few single player maps were not easy at all, maybe his coop maps are more challenging than others. I haven't played them though, just a suggestion.
Slimpack Mar 23, 2013 @ 7:23pm
Oh yes I see. I saw the real solution for getting the ball from looking at mood3rd's walkthrough. Although I do kinda like the idea of to re-using the frankencube for the final puzzle. But yeah, the timing for that does make it annoying to execute. You should be able to prevent that by making the floor over there grated fence since apprarently the frankencube can't walk across a grated fence floor. I've also downloaded some more your puzzles. (for some reason I thought cognitive dissonance was the only one you made.) I think you should make coop maps toncica. Me and my friend are always talking about how hard it is to find a coop puzzle that's well made and really difficult to solve.
toncica  [author] Mar 23, 2013 @ 6:55pm
Btw, of course I played Diaper Change by Dreamer, usually I'm the first to test his new maps. The orange gel part is insane. I always wondered who are the tough few who dare play his maps. :D Drop him a message when you play another one. His newest "Hell Wink" looks really good.
toncica  [author] Mar 23, 2013 @ 6:48pm
Thanks, after I watched the demo I knew why I couldn't do it. Lack of stamina, you got to be really determined. ;) I'm gonna run some tests to see if I can prevent that.
cracked_magnet Mar 23, 2013 @ 5:21pm
Ah yes I can confirm that the solution to getting the ball shown in slimpack's video was the one I used. As for the franken cube room, heres a link to the demo of my hack solution. bare with it as i messed it up a few times. Also I messed up the jump at the end but its easy to see I could have got both cubes out. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwZDK17g89yUaXEtaGVqUDVicDg/edit?usp=sharing
toncica  [author] Mar 23, 2013 @ 5:14pm
Thank you for the video, it's very helpful. Of course you found an alternate solution, one that I actually tried to prevent but obviously I failed. :) It's probably similar to the way cracked_magnet did the final part and that explains why it's so tough to execute. I will fix that, it wasn't my plan to have a solution which needs to be performed like 30 times until it succeeds. Thanks again!
Slimpack Mar 23, 2013 @ 4:31pm
This map was really though but I thought it was really really good. I don't really have much to say in terms of problems I found, this map seemed like it' really well thought out and put together as it is. Here's my playthrough of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIBa8np43n0
I don't think I found any exploits or alternate solutions though.
toncica  [author] Mar 23, 2013 @ 2:59pm
Wow, what a detailed feedback. Thank you very much. Firstly, it's good to hear that you enjoyed it and that the map apparently provided enough motivation to make you want to finish it, although you say that it was brutal. While being challenging was the aim, it wasn't exactly intended as brutal. ;) I have to think about what you said about the FC. The first issue is obvious, maybe something can be done about it. But the second issue is more important. Apparently you used it in an unintended, which made the end part very hard for you to execute. Can you tell me more aboutit? Maybe screenshots if a demo is too much hassle.
cracked_magnet Mar 23, 2013 @ 2:33pm
... part 5:

Knowing the solution was one thing, executing that solution is another thing entirely. It took me about 30 attempts to get the timing right for the FC position vs when to hit the button and getting to the faith plate.

Here are some of the many ways I failed.

Ball drops before fizzler is enabled.
Ball drops after fizzler is enabled.
Ball drops hits fizzler, respawns, I actually manage to catch it, and the fizzler is still up so it gets destroyed in my hands.
And favourite failure of all... ball drops hits fizzler, respawns, I hit the faith plate with the correct timing, but I don't press E fast enough, so I smack into the ball mid air stopping me dead and we both drop in to the laser field.

Actually this map reminds me alot of Diaper Change by Dreamer, which is another incredible map, for which I struggle to comprehend the inteligence required to create it. If you get a chance try play the hardest version.

All up congrats on a incredible map.
cracked_magnet Mar 23, 2013 @ 2:31pm
... part 4:

5. Put the FC back on the floor button, and used a portal to travel back to the main chamber and retrieve a cube.
6. Swaped the FC for the other cube (probably not required), and placed it on the higher floor button.
7. Hit the button to open the trap door. From there it was pretty simple to get both cubes out.

Now the last part. This took me about an hour (or more) and is the brutal bit.

Getting to the ball took a few attempts until I worked out to crawl down one side of the bridge.

When I started working out ways to get my hands on the ball, I was extremely impressed with how all the ways I could think of were blocked by some mechanic, most of which were in the puzzle for other purposes as well.

I eventually clicked after having eliminated a pile of techniques due to problems with logical dependancies.
cracked_magnet Mar 23, 2013 @ 2:30pm
... part 3:

Ok heres how I solved the franken chamber:
1. Once I got the FC out of its cage, put it on the button, used portals to get in to the cage, and destroyed it with the respawn button through a portal.
2. Positioned a portal low on the light bridge side of a portable surface outside of the cage. Grabed the respawned FC and basicly forced it through the portal without going through it myself. This left me in the cage while the FC was outside of the cage.
3. Portaled through to the long cage that leads to the timed fizzler button.
4. Deployed portal, bit that button and ran back and flung myself back in to the franken chamber before the fizzler went back on. (nice touch not giving quite enough time to place a portal and reexit).
cracked_magnet Mar 23, 2013 @ 2:28pm
... part 2:

A few things that require special mention, as they are things that could be used as elements of other puzzles.
1. The light bridges in front of the portable surfaces make an excelent one way valve. You can only go from the non light bridge side to the light bridge side, not the other direction. Pure genius. I also thought its a good way to allow the player to pass though the portal keep the portals but not let a cube through, turns out I was wrong on this point (more about this later).

2. Using the franken cube to knock over a turret was a nice touch.
cracked_magnet Mar 23, 2013 @ 2:27pm
One word... Brutal. But fun. Finally managed to get through it. This is probably going to take a couple of posts so bare with me.

First part, brilliant. I was probably 30 mins in before I realised I could get both cubes in to the main chamber.

Getting on top of the main chamber... Not too bad, i'm a bit rusty so it took a couple of steps. Getting a cube up there was a bit tricky but managed to get it done in the end. It was obvious enough that was what had to be done, mainly because there weren't any alternatives I could see.

I did spend quite a bit of time working out how to get in to the franken chamber. That was mainly becuase I figured I wouldn't survive jumping off, so figured there must have been another way.

Now the franken chamber, this was a very well done part of it. Spent quite a lot of time working this one out, and I suspect I may not have used the intended solution.

What? Why? Did you not shrink the file to an adequate size? You did not need to upload in 1080p. After I record I usually resize the video to 640x360, that's still good enough to see what happened and rendering and uploading is pretty fast due to less data and smaller file size.
mood3rd Mar 10, 2013 @ 8:06am
I am better at either finding exploits or the hard way, than intended sollutions.
though finding unintended sollutions on my own maps, is a different matter.
so thankyou again for your video's.
keep in mind the video of your map.
is after playing a few times.
so it was a lot more challanging than it appears in the video.
took about 8 hours to upload :(
toncica  [author] Mar 10, 2013 @ 7:19am
Very nice, thank you for the vid. It's satisfying to see that the player still has to focus a little bit after destroying the turrets. I was afraid that part would be too much of a no brainer but it seems to be adequate. You made it a little hard for yourself when you put the franken cube on the button in the upper floor instead of the standard cube and later when you were trying to fling near the pedestal button. It's not necessary to shoot the portal across the distance while flinging but it worked good enough for you.

toncica  [author] Mar 7, 2013 @ 11:05am
Very good. :) I'm glad that this is apparently still a very challenging map. I had some doubts that after all the changes it would be too straightforward. As it is I should be happy with it. Thanks for testing. Science has been solved for today. :)
