Description
My best attempt at a historical mid 1943 Kursk like tank battle. Best if played with a large open map like one of the Steppe maps I created. It's very intense with LOTS of tanks. Be aware, there are several game play adjustments from standard COH2. These are required to keep game play fun and generally historical. Read on for more details.
The Commander abilities are preset, so it won't matter which commander you pick. The only combatants are German and Soviet forces. The Soviet, AEF, and British factions are just variations of the Soviet forces. Wehrmacht and Oberkommando factions are two variations of the German forces. For example; Wehrmacht faction gets Tigers and an Elefant, while the Oberkommando faction gets Panthers. The Soviet faction gets an SU-152, and SU-85's. The British(soviet) faction gets KV-1's, Churchill's, and universal carriers. The AEF(soviet) faction gets a KV-2, Sherman's, and M5 halftracks.
Keep an eye on the timer in the top center of the screen. Many events an unit availability are controlled by the game clock. For example, tank forces arrive at seven minute intervals.
The entire map is revealed and each player can see all other units- no hiding. Objects and terrain still block shots and weapons still have range limits. Its actually adds to the game experience.
Production buildings have different available units than normal COH2. The German forces no longer have Battle Phases. Both the Germans and Soviet command sectors are defended by fixed AT guns. The HQ's have repair engineers and cannot be rebuilt.
Infantry and Vehicle unit equipment and abilities have been changed. The most notable is the Panzer Grenadiers. Keeping with history of summer 1943, they do not have MP-44's, Panzer Pfausts or Schrecks. All of those came late 43 and after. However, they can merge with other units and repair tanks just like conscripts. Soviet Tanks cannot capture strategic points.
Also the Oberkommando faction use jagdpanzers instead to stuGs. This was for skin astetic purposes only otherwise they perform exactly like Stugs.
New abilities:
Vehicle retreat: It functions the same as for infantry - use it to preserve your tanks! Careful to back out combat before hitting retreat. Repair Engineers at your HQ will automatically take care of repairs.
New upgrades:
Armor skirts for Panzer IV, StuG, jagdpanzer, Panther, and Brummbar.

Game play details:
A large amount of German and Soviet tanks will appear at each players HQ after 7 minutes of battle time and replacement tanks every 7 minutes thereafter at no cost. The amount of these tanks on the map are controlled by a poplimit (12 Soviet, 6 German). These tanks include a 3 to 1 mix of T-34/76's and T-70's for the Soviet, AEF, and British players. A 3 to 2 mix of StugIIIG's and Panzer IV's for the Wehrmacht and Oberkommando players. Other specialty Tanks and vehicles can be built and/or deployed when game conditions allow.

I have always just used standard annihilation and standard resources.
No commanders means, you can select any commander you want but the abilites for this mod are fixed. However the abilities are different for each faction.

Thank you for the info! I am not surprised it takes you an hour to finish a game.... Just 2 mores queries, if I may?....Which would be the most suitable Win Condition to use? I have been using Wikinger Theater of War WCP....
Lastly: When You say "No Commanders" Does it mean I should remove amy Commanders?

Try searching on my login id "midgetgiant", I made several maps that are suited for Kursk like tank battles. When my bother-in-law play this mod, it takes us about an hour to finish.

Salute!
I have just downloaded and played your mod using one of your steppe map. I reallyenjoyed it.Great tank battles and the actions is non stop. I mostly play against CPU, cause I am aRookie at the game. Would you have any other map to suggest?
