I recall hearing something about that. Maybe on that GameSpot page where some of the lucky one won a copy :) They all ignored the FPS and recommendations and ran it above what was specified... without issue

Well my mid level gaming machine seems to have no trouble running it at full. Maybe I'm not clicking save or something after setting it and it's really run at medium :) Looks like there's lots going on though and with plenty of detail. Pans and zooms smoothly too.

Appears to be one of the most demanding games out. My (not so old) dedicated gaming machine can barely muster medium settings...or so the benchmark test claims.
