This game manages to mix guns and katanas in one of the greatest ways ever. Some say guns make games more boring and less strategical but I disagree. The game stiull manages to make the samurai a formiddable enemy in some situations despite guns being added to the game and I love it. The melee fighting, the cannons, the steam-powered warships and samurai units among others make this truly an amazing standalone. It is just as amazing as the base game in every way. Even though to someone who has never played this standalone, the Gatling gun may seem like a horrible fit, but this game succeeds in making it fun to use.

One complaint I would make is that there are not that many units. Luckily mods like Radious and "Shogun 2 units for FOTS" exist, but despite all this the game is still epic.

When thou doth play this masterpiece, thou must thinketh to thyself, "this is absolutely gorgeous". That is the message I bestow upon this masterpiece.

You don't even have to read the reviews to know that this is an amazing game. Although there are a lot of dlcs you need to buy to really make the game better, it's still the best ww2 game out there.

Great game. Horrifying, engaging, open-world (in most cases) and you never know what to expect. Being in a big hunk of metal we call a "submarine" waiting to be utterly destroyed by either an idiot captain, humongous fish, plants growing inside or their own crew. Your submarine is the only safe space, and literally everywhere around it is Lethal danger. Great game overall.

Awesome game, love it. Not as good as Napoleon or Shogun, but it offers lots of freedom looking at the different maps you can trave, to in campaign and the variety of units. Vanilla mode in my opinion is better than Napoleon's fresh Vanilla, and mods make the game even better.

Worker's march is my favourite. These songs really do inspire the hearts of our comrades.

Honestly my favourite game in the entire Total War Series and in fact my favourite game ever. Fresh Vanilla mode isn't that great though, as there are many improvements that can be done with vanilla. But with mods such as NTW III and Darthmod (with HC edition) the game is 2000% much more fun to play and watch.

An example of an Extremely Creative and Fun Historical 17th - 19th Century war and production game. I would definitely recommend it to people interested in Historical and/or war games, or both. I've been always looking for a game like this and I finally found one of the best Historical War games ever.
