This game still holds for my absolute favourite style in any game i've played. Although it was very short, somewhat confusing with the story, and just missing a lot in general due to being made in RPG maker, it makes up for it with it's amazing battle animations and art. The music is very strange, which is perfect for the game's style and atmosphere. Yet another amazing indie RPG to appreciate for it's really creative style, as well as the small details put into everything, which is why I think it still holds up today.

Absolutely my top pick for a pixel art and animation program. It feels a lot smoother and more comfortable than others i've used before. I also got this gifted to me for my birthday :D but I recommend you buy it yourself anyway

Well, I wasn't really wrong. This game is a direct upgrade from Spelunky, which is already an amazing game on its own. The new style is fresh yet still perfectly embodies the classic Spelunky theme. The new areas have beautiful backgrounds and block designs, as well as infinitely fun new enemies and traps to strategize around. I absolutely adore the new character designs, as they also resemble the same old style of the original game, with brand new designs.

I do have one pick to take at this game, however. Although it still great and very fitting for the stages, I don't think the music is any better than the first game. Granted, the first game's OST alone is hard to beat out, but with a direct upgrade of a sequel, I expected more.

Aside from the soundtrack (which is still great, just not AS great in my opinion), this game is an even better experience than the first game. It still has that lovable charm that the first Spelunky had. It lives to carry on the legacy in an even better form than ever before. The genius of Derek Yu and his team have never failed to disappoint. I'd say, absolutely worth the hype, or at least, definitely worth the praise i've given it.
