Not a very good game, buggy and the devs really dont care at this point. Theres really no excuse for the poor optomization and bugs with a budget as large as bluehole's. Would refund if I could.

Ok so here is my review for Samorost 2.

Art Like the other Samorost games Samorost 2 has some amazing art. It is a little more hand drawn looking than 3 whether this is a pro or a con is up to you but I personally enjoy it and it has a nice feel all around. The art is very consistent and really flows from one place to another. Everything has a nice mix of the look of a picture, an abstract world and random items in the everyday world. The only gripe I have about the art is the lack of screen shots. I really wish you could take screen shots in this game and I would really like it if they added that (don’t expect them to because of the platform its running on and the fact that it’s an older game). Although it is really a con I would still totally recommend the game.

Story The story in this game like in the others is very simple and nice. I doesn’t make you think too hard and there are really no decisions to make. This might not be for some people but it makes the game wonderful to play when you just wana check out and enjoy some free time. There are 2 main objectives of the story or game and each brings you some fun times and is decorated with amazing art and sound not to mention some great puzzles. The game took me around 4 hours to complete with some help and really feels like a treat instead of a grind.

Sound The sound is really an excellent feature of this game. It incorporates great and odd voicing and smooth music/sounds. The environment is constantly being noisy and involves and draws you in with interesting and fun sound cues. I highly recommend playing this game with a headset and if you don’t I don’t think you will get the true feel of the game.

Puzzles The puzzles are very nice and unlike samorost 3 and have a clear answer based on the environment or plot of the story. This makes the experience much more enjoyable and you will not need a guide to finish the game if you really wana do it by your own wits and cunning :P. I used a guide that I will link in the description. Most of the puzzles are not too easy and not too hard and can take from 5 to 10 minutes depending on the use of a guide. If a guide is used then you can quickly 2 to 3 minutes. I used a guide on most of the harder puzzles and it took me roughly 4 hours to complete.

Feel You can tell that this is an older and homemade game. It’s not to polished and is a little bit clunky at times. This is where Samorost 3 and Samorost 2 really differ. You can’t free roam as much in this game. This make the world just a little less inviting but doesn’t really effect the gameplay in a negative way. Sometimes you will get stuck in a puzzle and will have to complete it before you can move or back track again. This is somewhat of a double-edged sword and made it easier to complete the game in a quick run. The other edge is that it also makes it less of a joy to free roam in and just enjoying the environment. In all I would prefer the ability to free roam and be able to walk in various places instead of a semi small area. The last thing is that sometimes your lil gnome or whatever he is will not look natural going or exiting a building and seems to get caught on the walls or doors. Although this games mechanics are not as good as its successors it’s still usually very clean and has a noice feel to it.

Characters The characters really gave this game its fantastical feel. There are a variety of distinct species and subsets of characters to interact with. Most of them have a purpose and they really give the game its amazing fun and different feel.

Final Takeaway This is a great game and a must have if you enjoy fun little games with amazing art and a good old calming feel. The puzzles are great for a relaxing time and generate just enough difficulty to make them feel interesting. The music and sounds are crisp and real and it doesn’t feel like any other game (besides the other Amanita Design games). It’s a steal for $5 USD and you can find it for $2.50 USD or under on sale most of the time. I would highly recommend this game before buying Samorost 3 because if you like this then you will also like 3. Below are a few links to videos and guides I found usefully in the game.

There are a few other guides but these are the best in my opinion (feel free to look around though)

This is one of the best feeling games I’ve played in a while. It just really brings a unique and lovely feel in an industry filled with AAA titles and games that just don’t feel like they were really cared for and used only as a money-making tool. This game feels like the devs put in the time and decided they would rather have a wonderful game than something that would be more marketable. Now I’ll start the main part of the review.

The sounds and music in this game are some of the best I’ve seen. First the soundtrack really draws you in and makes the game 100% more enjoyable. The devs also spared nothing when it comes to "voice acting" and sound effects. They give the characters life and a kind of mystery as well as creating a magical environment. This and the music really make the feel of the game much more relaxed and interesting. Most or every creature and "person" (if you can call them that) has something to say when it/they are interacted with, creating an in-depth environment that draws you in and makes you feel like a part of the little world.

Now we move into the art style of the game. First if you don’t enjoy this art you’re not going to enjoy the game nearly as much as it can be enjoyed. With that out of the way I’ll go into my opinion (because I know how much you wana hear it). I personally love the art and the characters wouldn’t be nearly as charming without the beautiful design of the game. Every area seems like a moving and living photo that you can interact with and traverse. The creatures of the game also have a very interesting look and will usually stand out from the terrain but not to a point where they look out of place. In fact, most of the creature’s match flawlessly with the place that they dwell and have a fitting "personality" for what they look like and where they live. I really love the art and it is really a key part of the game as I see it.

The puzzle aspect of this game is somewhat lacking as most of the time they are very easy or do not have anything to do with the story or the situation. None the less they can be a lovely way to spend time and the music and art makes it so that it does not seem like your grinding. I would recommend using a guide or walkthrough to help if you’re stuck but that’s up to you and how much you want to do the game on your own. I will leave a few links to good guides and videos down below if you are looking for help.

In all this is a wonderful game and I think it brings a type of play to the table that is very refreshing and magical. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who is interested in the art and music/sound effects of the game. I picked it up on sale for around $10 or maybe $7 USD and don’t regret one penny. I hoped this review helped you and gave you an idea of what this game entails.

Here are a few links for helping you get all those achievements and just winding your way through the game in general.

Terraria Review

ART
Although terraria doesn't have stunning graphics its art is still charming. Different biomes are all very unique in their visuals and all fit in perfectly with the general scheme of the world. There are also tons of details put into every biome so it never feels recycled or boring when exploring or building. There are also hundreds of blocks and thousands of items to decorate with as well as tons of vanity items, meaning that everyone will be able to find a look they love.

PROGRESSION
The progression system in terraria is one of the most amazing parts of the game. In the beginning of the game there is limited loot and enemies giving new players a chance to figure things out, but as players progress and fight more bosses new items and enemies become available. This system allows more experienced players to grind less and fight more, but also give newer players the ability to grind for better gear so they can be confident when fighting larger bosses. The only area of the progression system that might get annoying for some is the very beginning which can be a little grindy due to few accessories.

CLASSES
The main classes in terraria are mele, range, magic and summoning. Each class offers a different style of game play with range and summoning staying further back and magic and mele being slightly more aggressive. Although there are general rules for classes different weapons, armor and accessories make it possible to customize your play style.

WEAPONS
There are tons of weapons in terraria that can be suited to every play style. The main groups of weapons are mele, range, magic and summoning. Most weapons also have major differences in their perks so that even in a class you can completely customize the feel of the experience. Weapons can also be reforged giving them more perks in areas like damage, crit chance and speed.

ARMOR
Like weapons there are four main classes of armor, mele, range, magic and summoning. Some of these armors also have variants that can be chosen when crafting that give buffs to some types of weapons such as explosives, guns, or bows. Armor as well as vanity items can also be worn in the vanity slot, giving no actual buffs, but allowing players to customize their looks.

ACCESSORIES
There are hundreds of accessories in terraria from wings, speed boots and lava charms to healing charms, snorkel gear and yoyo bags. These accessories can be reforged just like weapons which can give characters buffs like increased speed, damage or armor.

BOSSES
One of the main pieces of terraria are the bosses and boss fights. Killing bosses is the main way to progress through the game and is what most prep is put into. After killing a major boss new items, material, or even biomes are put into the world. The main two groups bosses can be put into are prehardmore and psothardmore bosses with the later being much harder to fight. This preparation and loot system based around bosses is remarkably well balanced so that very little does fighting or preparing feel tiring. Other than bosses there are also events where waves or enemies and mini bosses attack.

ENEMIES
Enemies in terraria, like bosses, progress as players do so that fighting never becomes boring or useless until the very end game. Some almost mini boss like enemies can also drop very powerful weapons which are often used in between large boss fights. Enemies also fit in perfectly with the environment making them seem totally natural and not forced.

BUILDING
Another main element in terraria is building. Building allows even end game to be fun as many more resources can be accessed. Building can also be used during boss fights where a well built arena can be the difference between a loss and a win.

NPC'S
Most NPC's "move in" after a boss or event is defeated. Some of these NPC's provide little actual change in the game and focus more on building or cosmetics, but other NPC's provide important weapons or crafting tools that are vary imprtant to progression. Some NPC's also provide health buffs or healing so they can be used in boss fights.

CRAFTING
Crafting in terraria is one of the most unique and wonderful elements of the game. Crafting allows players to grind for better gear as well as to customize everything from your home to your cosmetics. This makes the game fun and interesting even after end game because players can then focus on obtaining hard to find crafting tables or materials to improve their homes which is one the most fun parts of the game.
