It's got a few optimization issues and it gets really boring starting in the Xen chapter, but it's still an excellent modernized version of the original Half-Life.

Beautiful, fun, and completely free!

Stops being scary after a few attempts, but for a free game, it is a good and challenging one time experience.

Basically a free foreign GTA. This game is awful in its current state, the only thing you can do is run around and shoot people or do missions that are extremely repetitive. The North American severs are completely dead, meaning I have to play with a bunch of Russians who keep team killing me on missions over and over because there is no opposition. The only cool thing this game offers is that it is extremely customizable, but that is not enough to keep me playing.

Unplayable on keyboard, controller or wheel accessory necessary in order to do well.

Total meme game, you can't shut off the looping music unless you use your PC's volume mixer, the levels are ♥♥♥♥, but are actually challenging due to the Unity engine not being able to support strafing.

This game is better than CS:GO because it has:
Better visibility
Better movement
Better hitboxes
Better surfing and bunnyhopping
Better physics engine
Better maps
Better community
Better player models
Better optimization
and most importantly, allows custom sprays

...or you could also just buy it for Garry's Mod textures

Regardless, this game is fantastic and worth the purchase

This game has a few major issues.

1. It's repetitive
Most, if not all, of the quests are the same. You go to an island, you dig up a chest, you repeat this several times, and then you sell the chests. This process takes 1-2 hours minimum and becomes dull and boring extremely fast. Also, you can lose all of your loot to some galleon camping around an outpost, making your grind a massive waste of time.

2. It isn't rewarding
The gold you get from quests can only be used to buy cosmetics. Most of which are mediocre and will cost you hours of grinding to get. For someone who doesn't care about cosmetics in games, this is a huge problem for me. It gives me no incentive to play whatsoever. The only cool cosmetic thing is the pets and they have to be bought with real money.

3. There is no progression
Nothing in the game can be upgraded. No ship upgrades, no character upgrades, no weapon upgrades, etc. This means for every hour you put into this game, you will be using the same base stuff, making gameplay completely uninteresting. The only thing that can be technically upgraded is the quests, but all that does is give you more gold per quest, which as I explained, is useless.

On top of all this, this game costs $40, requires a Microsoft account, PVE and PVP is atrociously bad, and it is unbearable unless you play with friends. The only way this game could be somewhat fun is if you treat it as a pirate dress-up roleplay game, which is also not something that intrigues me. The only upside is that the graphics and art style of the game is very nice, but the bad outweighs any good. Avoid this game at all costs.
