Many reviewers and critics at the time of Monkey Go Happy's release did not quite understand it's overall purpose, it's meaning, and what message it was trying to send. Because of this, they gave the game a low score. However, thousands of years later and Monkey Go Happy is one of the few games that have stood the test of time, and is generally regarded as one of the greatest inventions of entertainment ever conceived and created. The story of monkey go happy is quite amazing: a monkey family is seen to appear sad, and the player must create or fix a scenario in order to bring happiness to the monkeys. The gameplay of Monkey Go Happy is expansive, innovative, creative, and most of all: fun. The many genius scenarios the player is put forth into solving is quite remarkable, and it allows the player to grow in problem solving skills and really take in their surroundings more often. At the end of each Scenario, the monkey is most joyous because you, the player, created a change in order to make this monkey happy. This is very representative of our society: we are not prone to helping strangers out and generally ignore them unless contact is needed with them. But by interacting with them, listening to them, and hearing out their problems and woes, that random stranger might just end the day with a smile on their face. Monkey Go Happy is about connections, it's about how we as a society must push forth to help others no matter how inconsequential they are to our lives, and you walk away from the game with this knowledge. I am now currently volunteering at a homeless shelter, and I've met many different people through it and have shared smiles and laughter with them. I started Monkey Go Happy as a retrospective, to see what this old game from way back then was like now. But now I leave the game as a changed man, or better yet: a changed monkey.
