In this game, you can see your player character's feet for the first time. This is a reference to how Valve shot themselves in the foot by killing CSGO

I beat the game on hard mode in 8 hours of play.

In episode V, I thought the downhill minecart would be fun and intended to ride.
It sends you into a ditch and kills you.

During the carriage chase sequence, the carriage matches your top speed, so continued horse-sprinting is a fast-forward button that will kill your horse.

There are only four "boss fights" in the game. Two are boxing matches, the other two are slow shooting matches. Every other fight with the potential for climax is replaced with the same pistol draw sequence where your aim feels like ice.

I was running on on DX10 at 1920x1080 on windowed fullscreen, because borderless crashed my game and borderless windowed wasn't an option. While playing, it intermittently crashed, and the entire time the rendered screen was translated down and to the right relative to my display. I can write this off as the game being old, but other comparable titles even older (Half-Life in particular) don't struggle with this.

This game offers real-time destruction that is incomparable to its contemporaries. Levelling buildings and abusing physics is a natural part of gameplay. Nothing relies on pre-rendered destruction animations such as those in battlefield, making the game feel organically chaotic and replayable. Weather and time mechanics add to this variance in replayability. If you want a unique team shooter experience, try this out.

Thanks to the efforts of the community, Arrowhead, and Steam, Sony has relented and will no longer be implementing the forced PSN account integration!

Thank you to all those involved for helping to save such a wonderful game. It's a heartwarming irony that a game about community effort managed to push back against this.

Great story, good gameplay fundamentals, and fantastic worldbuilding. The soundtrack is extremely good, and the voice acting feels varied and genuine compared to contemporaries. However, it can be grindy, lacking in replay value, and English voiceover support has been gutted for future updates. If you want a gacha game that doesn't play like a gacha game, this is your best chance to try it.

An enjoyable mesh of Payday gameplay and physics goofiness. Although lacking in artistic element, the game is a hilarious heist shooter with good value for a free game. It's surprisingly less buggy than Payday 3, and significantly more valuable.

Loading is incredibly fast, and the game is very stable, unlike Payday 3 which is comparatively resource intensive and crash-heavy. My only real criticisms are the lack of music, poor sound design, bland style reminiscent of stock Unity assets, and the inclusion of in-game paid currency. It would be preferable to have a way to earn credits through regular gameplay. Still better than Payday 3.

This is a wonderful game plagued by horrible issues. When these issues are fixed, I am happy to make a positive review instead.
- Horrible server infrastructure
- Frequent crashes
- Horrible social system that frequently fails to register new friends
- Numerous game breaking bugs
- Unresponsive data-storing
- Inconsistent guard detection mechanics and display

Edit: It's been several months since my first review. Balance and bug fixes were implemented, but the Syntax Error update has set a bad precedent for new content for the game. The update is 18 dollars, which is far too expensive for a 40 dollar release game with very little content to begin with. I paid for the whole game, not to participate in a subscription service.

Difficult to understand from a beginners' surface perspective, with many mechanics and procedures being less-than-obvious, and certain cues either being extremely subtle or misleading. Playing the game properly and understanding it fully requires either copious research or heavy hazing on part of the player. The book does not do a perfect job of allowing players to narrow down ghosts by cue, with some cues being ghost-specific without appearing in the book itself. Character graphics and motions look goofy in a way that clashes with the horror aspects. Other graphics are par at best, and visibility is more irritating than it is spooky, as with many other mechanics in this game. If you are going to play this game, it is best played with friends who know what they're doing and are willing to help you out.
