This is the best vehicle combat game on the market with an EA caliber of consumer predation.

I highly recommend you play the game for yourself, because there's not a single close competitor out there. There's hundreds of vehicles spread across 5 generations of tanks, 5 generations of aircraft, and an awkward but okay foray into warships.

The catch is that you will have to pay a lot of money to get out of the basics. $50 per tree, with 2-5 trees per nation.

If you came here wanting to fly a helicopter or play that MBT you saw in the trailer: leave. Even if you pay the $50-120 to access that vehicle, you will get smashed by people who have played the game for years. You will not be able to so much as leave spawn after a match has gone for 5 minutes, not least of which because of the way Gaijin has horribly implemented attack drones, strike fighters, and air defense.

The game's economy and grind is designed so that you will have to spend money to get the ABILITY to get full access to a Tech Tree (read: a single tree, not all of that nation's trees. You will have to pay money for each Tank/Plane/Helicopter/Warship/Coastal Ship tree). If you don't you will need to spend literal months of game time. I've played for 2500 hours and I still have no Jets or MBTs. Most of the grinding I achieved in game was done prior to some awful economy updates and poor game progression designs, so all my progress has more or less come to a complete halt. At the time of writing, the Devs made it publicly known that they have intentionally designed the game to make it impossible to progress without a Premium tank + a Premium subscription plan which you can buy annually for ~$80. Half off on Gaijin's Birthday, but you won't be getting away without at least paying triple digits.

I have already shelled out $100 to this game, but since I didn't buy a Top Tier Premium Vehicle, that has earned me diddly squat in terms of access. Not helping is that I paid a good $30 of that towards a late WWII American heavy tank, which means I cannot play a game without getting smashed by post war ATGM carriers. That's the price I paid for buying something that looked fun rather than Meta.

Still, it will certainly be worth your time to play the lower tiers. Early tanks are fun and fairly well balanced. Each nation tree has something great to offer up to a certain point, and there's an incredible spread of trees.

Plenty of promise and almost complete game play for just being a beta (As of right now). That $16 isn't bad for the fun I had with friends. You might want to wait a bit since some important features are yet to be implemented but the price is not set to change and you will definitely know it was money well spent.
