“The definition of 'insanity' is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results... except for Wesnoth savescumming. I SWEAR bro this time I'm gonna kill this skeleton archer without taking damage." – Albert Einstein, avid Battle for Wesnoth player.

Einstein proceeded to reset the turn another twelve times before giving up and going to bed.

fun/decent rogue-like, better with friends or on harder difficulties. really needs more movement speed items in the item pool though, game feels as sluggish as a constipated snail in a snowstorm without them.

buy when it's on sale, because it's the PRUDENT thing to do.

the achievement "unstoppable" was a sick joke created by hitler in a last act of tyranny.

One of the less challenging rogue-lites I've played. I'm used to rogue-lites like Spelunky, where the game constantly keeps you on your toes with the fear of one mistake leading to instant death. There's not really that kind of feeling with Delver. You really can "coast" through most of the game, picking random stats whenever you level up with no real purpose, or using less powerful weapons. But it all comes to bite you in the butt when you face the final boss. Suddenly, if you don't have the correct stats to quickly kill the final boss, you just get overwhelmed by his goons and you have to start over from the beginning again.

Combat is alright, but the melee fighting can be a bit tedious at times, I wish there was some sort of parrying or block mechanic that both the player and enemies can use to make the melee fighting a bit more interesting. The most fun runs I've had are Archer/Mage builds, where I just upgrade my magic or agility so much that I can just either blast any monster I point my crosshair at into smithereens or launch a barrage of arrows so quickly that they can't even react.

I like the weapons in this game a lot, it's not like Spelunky, where if you find a shotgun, it's just a normal shotgun exactly like one from another run. In Delver, the weapons have different, randomized attributes. They can have elemental magic tied to them, adding extra damage and effects. There are also different tiers to the weapons, which increases their base damage depending on the tier. There's also a durability to the weapons, which lowers their damage as it gets used more. This all applies to armor you find as well. Another thing I like are the unique items, which are rare, powerful weapons and armor with game changing stats. My only problem is that these rare and unique items break too quickly.

This game is also very customizable, it's very easy to just download a mod from the workshop and boom, you have it in game. You can add new weapons, armor, music ,or even add a new campaign! For example, you can change the game from being a medieval dungeon crawler to a sci-fi shootout.

I'd recommend buying this game, but only if it's on sale. After you beat the game it becomes a little repetitive.
