Bought this game just to say F

For those who are questioning if this game is worth it, it certainly is. This isn't just a generic sandbox VR game. It has a soul and campaign. It is a lot like Dark Souls in a sense of exploring, finding loot, collecting currency, upgrading, doing side quests, etc. The developers clearly spent a lot of time and effort onto this game. I know this game is still new and I think it is insanely worth the price. I cannot wait to see what future updates the developers bring.


If you love the Soulsborne series or Souls-Like games, you will love this game.

I AM A GOD!

At first I thought this would be a horrible game that's only fun with multiplayer. I bought this game on sale and played it for a little while and wow. It is fun as hell. I've only played solo so I can't really say what it's like for multiplayer but holy crap. I appreciate the developers for making this game fun! I can't wait to see what future maps/gamemodes the developers add.

9/10 game but it's probably going to be a 10/10 soon

Nearly a year later and we still have empty promises and no updates.

The whole idea of bonelab was built around modding and we still haven't gotten the SDK update or workshop support. The whole selling point and main campaign idea was that you could mod the game. Even before bonelab released, the devs were hyping up the fact that this game could be the Gmod for VR. It's not like the developers are trying hard to save their game. They've been nearly radio silent since the game came out, relying on the communities false sense of hope and underdeveloped mods to keep the game going.

Onto the actual game itself; It was disappointing. It was hardly a sequel to boneworks. Half of the campaign was just a tutorial for the new characters, while the other half is just linear. Boneworks' biggest selling point was that you could beat the game however you wanted. There wasn't one true way to beat a level. This is especially true on the level Warehouse. Furthermore nearly all the new enemies in bonelab are just reskinned boneworks NPC's. If there is a simple way to describe the gameplay of bonelab, it would be "Boneworks 0.5" as it felt like more of a downgrade than anything else.

I tried to love Bonelab more than anything, but seeing what it is now and the fact that the once respect Stress Level 0 developers have adopted the "Launch now, fix later" ideology and not make any improvements to the game for nearly a year hurts. I don't understand how this was the same company that made something as good as Boneworks.

TL;DR: Don't buy this game. The gameplay isn't fun and the devs abanonded it. If you want an actual fun campaign try "Boneworks", "Vertigo 2", or "Half Life Alyx". If you want a fun sandbox try "Blade and Sorcery" or "Hot dogs Horseshoes and Hand Grenades".

It's really rare to find a godlike game like this. And it's ever rarer to find games like those free. A lot of effort went into this one game and massive props to the development team for making it happen. I hope this game reaches insane popularity one day.
