Not as good as the original.

It seems the developers tried to add some new features which ultimately detracted from the great experience that was Harbinger.

Sector Siege becomes repetitive fast, Id fully recommend Harbinger over this which offers a much more streamlined experience

Its hard to recommend this game due to all the technical glitches. when you are actually able to get a game going the game play mechanics are great and the art style is fantastic and true to its source material.

The problem is that loading a game will often result in the game crashing, and even when you do get in from time to time your characters will seemingly teleport to the other side of the map, for a game with "all alone checks" this is not a good thing. I have played around for hours trying to get this game to run smoothly and have tried countless 'fixes' problem still persists. I have never gone through so much hassle to get a game running smoothly before (and never failed either).

I'll come back in a few months hopefully the game will be fixed. shame on the developers for letting a game be released with this many problems (& for releasing new paid for DLC before addressing these issues).

Although I enjoy the game it is still to buggy to recommend.

This was my first outing in the Survival genre and it did not disappoint. It really captured what I can only imagine is the feel of a grim hopeless survival situation in what felt like an authentic modern day Eastern European war zone.

This review has been written with ten hours game play, surviving my first game to the end of the war with two out of a possible five people left alive.

You spend the majority of your time fixing up your shelter adding home improvements to help improve the moral and overall survivability of your people. The actions in this section seem to make sense and seem to appropriately approximate the tasks you are asking people to do. Additionally I liked the craft system in this that you will need multiple workstations and items in order to grow / catch your own food and turn it into a hot meal.

The other section of this game is scavenging, where each evening up to one of your survivors may venture out into the city to scavenge various supplies. The scarcity of resources felt well balanced and added to the 'struggle to survive feel'. Towards the end of the game I felt I had found most of what was worth finding in the city meaning I simply had to sit tight and make do with what I had already found, and scrape together a living until the end of the war.

Replay-ability: As mentioned previously I ‘finished’ the game in around ten hours. However, there are six different starts to the game (made available after your first playthrough) varying the number of initial survivors as well as changing the individual skills of each of the survivors. I feel this will add enough of a difference for subsequent playthroughs. Of course the perfectionist in me wants to return to my original game and find a way to get all five of my people to survive to the end of the war (as opposed to just two of them).

Main Draw: This is one of the most atmospheric games I have played in a long time. The only problem with this game being so atmospheric is that the setting is so grim, you may find yourself needing a ‘pick me up’ after playing it.

Main Annoyance: Honestly I found very little if anything ‘wrong’ with this game. My one bugbear though is that you have to make your terminally ill characters to get out of bed and walk across the shelter to get food and medicine themselves. Having a feature to let other survivors nurse them would have made a lot more sense in my eyes.

In conclusion I would thoroughly recommend this game to anyone interested in it.
