Fallout 1 is clunky, slow, frustrating, and relies on RNG mechanics to for the combat, which makes me want to blow my brains out. And no, I do not need to "git gud."
Talking to people requires that you exhaust their dialogue options to find out what you need, and the barter page and rest of the UI is kind of bad. All in all, gameplay is uninteresting garbage.
That being said, however (before the nostalgia blind masses crusify me), the humor, story, characters, and lore this game had is easily one the best in the series. I'd only rank FO2 and FNV over it in those elements. It also set the stage for the rest of the games, which in total have sucked thousands of hours out of my life across different platforms.

I cannot deciede whether or not to recommend this game or not. If clunky, turn based, RNG, slow combat is your thing, more power to you, but it strongly turns me off.

Across all playforms, the game has probably sucked at least a thousand hours out of my life. I've spent the time on each platform to play through the game dozens of times, each time discovering knew ways to play the game and/or finding new quests and areas I'd never seen before. And yet, all of this without ever completing one of the 4 main story lines (not including speedrunning). It is EASILY the best fallout game (Yes. Including the originals.)

All in all, game is good, game is great. 10/10 play game.
