as of writing this i probably have something stupid like 2,000 hours on this meme game

the core mechanics of overwatch are some of the most fun i've ever had in a game. multiple heroes with somewhat interesting personalities allow one to navigate the game in various ways which thus negates the boredom of monotony. a rehaul of 6v6 down to 5v5 has sped up gameplay and taken away it's worst traits such as shield shooting, visual clutter and over reliance on MOBA-esque resource management which has moved the game into a more traditional fps environment

that being said, this game is ran by one of the most incompetent, unprofessional companies in the world and is almost a cartoonish characterisation of corporate greed. it's clear to anyone that overwatch 1 suffered a content drought for 3 years while development on overwatch 2 began. this game has drip fed players basic features such as "on fire", deprived us of medals and created a UI that is far less personable than the first game. on top of this, while free to play, 99% of skins are not earned through gameplay but through payment. a promise was made to the players of this game, that a strong PVE with advanced skill trees would be released and it did not deliver

overwatch is far more enjoyable when you do not have streamers demand you hate the game without trying it for yourself

i still enjoy this game and it genuinely is fun but i cannot bring myself to defend it on all fronts
