I know its been about 3 years but STILL this game can change you and keep you addicted!

Why Did I Even Buy It?:
When Undertale first came out I didn't care that much for the game. I watched Dunkey play it for 20 minutes and I thought that was all the game was, little did I know he only scratched the surface of the WHOLE GAME. I only picked this game up 3 years later because Deltarune came out and the whole Undertale fanbase sprang up again. Most of my friends started to play it and they would talk about the ending and how they want more of it. I wondered how a game like this could hook people and keep them intrested, so my main motive for playing Undertale and eventually Deltarune was curiosity. So I sold a TF2 unusual taunt and bought Undertale and in my opinion that was the best decision I've ever made.

How Was The Experience?:
At first the game was a decent experience, I had fun playing it without knowing how things would turn out in the end. As I said before I watched Dunkey play the game and he did a nuetral route so I already knew what to sorta expect like the Asgore and Photoshop Flowey fight. I also learned that there was a genocide route and I thought the only way to get it was through killing every boss, im so glad I was wrong though, and I also knew that you could fight sans which was something I wanted to do terribly. So my first run of Undertale was killing everything, I didn't even press the act button ONCE! So as you would expect I got the Leaderless ending and when I saw Sans tell me everything sucked and everyone wanted to die (I doubt thats correct but i could be wrong) I thought he would fight me. I got a little upset that I didn't get to fight sans and I hated the ending I got, I knew there was better endings I just didn't know how to get them. I spent a whole day playing my first run though which took around 6 hours, it was really long mainly because I looked at EVERYTHING. I like lore in games and when you can spend time talking and looking at everyone and everything it becomes fun and you get to know more of the story. The next day I went to go play Deltarune which was pretty good, I loved the jokes and I built an epic duck that exploded! I missed alot of things in the game too, but I just never felt like playing it again. As I finished Deltarune I knew what I wanted to do after, I came back to Undertale and started another playthrough. This time it was True Pacifist!

True Pacifist All The WAY!!!:
Playing TP was the best experience I ever had! I remember that I played that run for so long I had 40 mintues of sleep because I stayed up so late! This playthrough added a new element to the game that made the fun factor go through the roof. Instead of killing everything I found new ways to befriend them and it made the story way more engaging. The game had touched me with its excellent writing of this unique cast of characters it has and the alternate ending of TP gave me the sniffles (it was prob my body telling me to "go to bed already"). One of my favorite fights is Asriel, he kicks my ass all the time but its worth it. The way the fight is presented and how you have to save your friends through this fight makes it super great and the music I swear Hopes and Dreams is the best song on the whole sound track hands down! The ending itself is wonderful, it truly is a happy ending and what kept me playing on. There was only one more thing to do, it hurt pressing the true reset button but I knew what fate I had, I wasn't quitting intill I saw sans die.

Genocide Is An Achievement And A Curse:
I wikied how to do this playthough (like my TP run) because last time I got Leaderless and I didn't want to complete another Nuetral run. So I took the effort into farming which of course was the boring part of the run, but once everything was gone the game got so much intresting. I love the slowed down music and how dramatic the game acted when you killed all the monsters in an area. And my favorite thing of all, you instakill almost everything! I screwed up with Muffet's fight but seeing Toriel's face and how different of a response she gave when you killed her in one shot set the whole mood for this new playthrough. The new dialouge was a nice touch too, and seeing sans say "You going to have a bad time" as you first enter Snowdin gave me a wicked smile, I couldn't wait! Undyne the Undying was a really hard fight that forced me to focus super hard. Her different moves made it very difficult to kill her a second time. I eventually beat her but it forshadowed what Sans could be which made me want to fight him even more! I get to Sans after insta killing everything in Hotland and I swear he killed me 10+ times with his first move. He was tough as NAILS! I spent two hours trying to beat him and I eventually quit. The next day all i could think about was fighting Sans, as i get home from school its the first thing I do. I spend another 2 hours fighting him and i get close to beating him 4 times (his last attack is easy but im just stupid and die to his blasters), but when I finally get past his final attack im filled with so much joy. Waiting those 2 mintues just to see him "go to Grillbys" was all worth it and killing off the final 2 antagonists brought a great end to the journey. Chara was also a nice touch to Genocide and if you selled your soul it forever changed the pacifist ending making TP unreachable making it even cooler and making me want to play even more!

Soulless Genocide and Pacifist:
With SG its just another genocide run with a slightly different ending and SP was a pacifist run with the same pacifist ending but with a Chara twist! In my opinion it wasn't all that worth it replaying the game twice but i had fun killing Sans first try and fighting Asriel again.

Undertale's Music Can Keep You Listening Forever!:
The music in this game is one of the reasons why I love it so much. Im a big music nerd already and what Undertale introduced to me was a treat. I mainly listened to the boss fight tracks (mainly Hopes and Dreams (with Save the World))
and if im still listening I would just poke around and listen to the soundtrack from beginning to end! I was a big fan of Hotline Miami's soundtrack but Undertale takes the cake.

Conclusion:
If you want a single player game that grips you with terrific story telling, amazing music, and skill based combat (I mean not really but what else would you call it?) this game is for you! I spent many days back to back playing this game and it hooked me into a web that I couldn't get out of. The only thing I regret is how I didn't play this 3 years ago...

It's the end of 2020 basically and i somehow got around to playing Undertale again. Beat it two more times (neutral ending and true ending) making a total of 8 completed games. Never thought I'd replay it that much even though I took a two year break from this game. This is my best review on my account and I'm surprised it gain what little traction it had. Thought it would be just a review in the back that never saw the light of day like most of my reviews. Also If you think about replaying the game again make sure your memory of the game is not 100% so you could at least be a little surprised by something that happens. I never fully remembered the true ending and made alot more connections with the story than when I originally played it. But Undertale will always be Undertale. I can somehow see my self playing this game again years from now no matter where I am at my life. This game gives me the confidence I rarely get these days and I'll always know that the characters will love me forever no matter what. Thank you Undertale and Toby Fox for a game that will only be made once in a lifetime.
