I don't remember the last time a game so consistently made me fearful and anxious even after hours of playtime. And I don't remember a time when that fear pushed me further and made me focus more than I would have without it.

It makes me play better, but sometimes I'd be too focused to notice the zombie behind me.

Zombie survival at its finest.

Do you want to spend hours in a VR sandbox where basically the entire engine's toolkit is available and more, just for you to mess around with? Well then, welcome to Resonite!

Basically every single object is editable and programmable, including yourself! Wanna make an avatar from random models you find on your computer? Wanna use some visual programming to make games with those models? Wanna accidentally replace your home with textures and models that look like you put in a blender? Go right ahead, you can do literally anything and nothing can really stop you.

Did I mention there are also social aspects to this? I just found out, and I'm probably never using any of it. People scare me.

There is a lot of jank and a very beefy price tag with this game but once you get over it, it's honestly pretty fun.

This game isn't for first-time VR users, it's made with people who are already very familiar with VR. I have around 850 hours in SteamVR alone (not counting Oculus playtime), and I've been fairly comfortable playing Bonelab and Boneworks. And while yes, there is jank, with enough playtime you get comfortable and the jank is usually less prevalent. I hate basically saying "lol xd just git gud idot" in order to enjoy the game, but it's really necessary in order to enjoy it to its fullest. Although, to be fair, this game seems more polished than Boneworks, and after 3 years, I'm not sure if there's anything more they can do.

Most of the mechanics rely on the modding support which... is lacking and pretty limited currently, even after months of the game being released. This is why I cannot recommend it, although if you like messing around in a modded sandbox, you might enjoy even the limited things you can do. If you don't like a modded sandbox you can mess around in, this game isn't for you. Play Boneworks instead.

I'm honestly in love with this game and want to see it flourish, but as of right now, it's really limiting and doesn't give enough content to justify the price, and so I do not recommend it.
Once MarrowSDK gets fully released, I'll definitely recommend this game no questions asked. As of right now, however, one of the main draws of this game is unfinished, and so I can't. If you buy it now, treat it as early access (even though its not (even though it totally should be)).

This is one of my favorite games with one of the best communities to back it up out there.

However, I cannot recommend it in the current state it is in.

There is very little moderation for even very popular worlds or avatars, and a *lot* of NSFW and generally weird and questionable content gets through the cracks wayyy too often. This also brings in a community of very weird people sometimes, which can be dangerous with the seemingly large amount of kids on the platform.
Now this isn't saying that it is all bad, there are still a lot of communities and people who are genuinely fun to just talk or play games with, and it is possible to go into any public world and find people like this. However, at least to me with social anxiety, this is becoming increasingly harder every day.

If you are looking for a social VR app, look elsewhere first. Other games might include some more jank and may be less polished but usually have more features and better content filtering, as well as generally a more welcoming community.

If you have a friend who plays VRChat frequently or if you enjoy the general feel of VRChat more...
then there's nothing wrong with that. VRChat is still good in its own right, and you can still find a welcoming community, albeit harder.

Enjoy whichever path you choose.

I have spent almost 8 hours on a demo.

I regret nothing.

I've only made a couple of things and have only used this for 8 hours but this is great. Like many others, I'm just starting out, but I'm already enjoying the tools and features this has. If you are just starting out, this would be great if you're willing to spend the money on it.

fun to play with friends until your friends die
then its just hell

--Actual Review--
RoR is a fun game when you have a little bit of time on your hands. And when I mean a little, I mean like an hour or two. The game has tons of items and enemies, as well as mutiple playable characters and maps. It's fun to play with friends (either through doing it easily through local or through the hell that is online), and is just a generally fun game when you have a lot of time to kill. Sure, it does have a steep learning curve, which I wish they fix (hopefully in RoR2), but once you get past that curve, you won't stop playing for a while.
In general, RoR is just a fun rogue-like that can provide tons of entertainment alone or with a friend or two.
