Following the heels of the well received game Dead Island, comes the "sequel" of Dying Light. Featuring new features such as the day and night system, a fearsome night hunter pvp mode as well as a satisfying bozak horde dlc. Dying Light gets my approval 100%.

I bought this game at the behest of my boyfriend, who wanted to play with me. Initially sceptical, I downloaded the game and was hooked after running, jumping and otherwise smashing the heads out of zombies. Nighttime brings an altogether different challenge as big bad monsters called volatiles will spot and start to chase you. The storyline was well developed in my opinion and having coop challenges between players are fun. After you have leveled up to the max, the player can start to tackle the fearsome dlc called The Bozak Horde. Termed as the hardest single player mode challenge, it nonetheless offers a sweet reward: the Bozak Bow, a better bow then what is offered in the game. This bow is essential for completing ♥♥♥♥♥ homini lupus, in which the player has to headshot 15 of Rais' men.

The bow also stocks 4 different types of arrows notably the fearsome explosive arrow, which is such a good arrow for killing off your partner, or even the night hunter (if he gets in range). There are also parkour challenges available throughout the map, located by a foot with 3 stars. Competitive players such as me will gnash their teeth in frustration if your coop partner runs in front of you.

Dead Island is a fun co-op game that is best played with a partner. Besides killing zombies, you get to pick your character which specialises in the different weapons that are prevalent throughout the game.

The field of view was very narrow at first, resulting in a very fast headache for me. After my SO modded it for me (from 65 to 90), the field of view became very enjoyable as the headache disappeared, although arms do appear like gorillas. There are also techniques to 'sabo' your friends, by luring them to a corner with a suicider lurking around, or baiting a Ram to rush towards them :)

Overall, a very fun game to play with your SO if you pick a ranged character (Purna/Logan) as you can have many tricks, like enjoying the show as your friends are fighting mobs. (Characters will have a blue outline while in rage mode, and Xian Mei moves like a girl high on drugs.) If your friends picked a melee character and get killed in the end, just stand at the back, activate your rage and spam your trigger finger as fast as possible. Afterwards, laugh manically as you stand over their characters and pressing "F" to use a medkit on them at the last second while surrounded by dead zombies.

This game can be incredibly frustrating at times when you have teammates that do not know what they are doing, but at the same time it can be quite rewarding in the satisfaction that you get when the enemy's ancient falls.

2018
Come 7.20b and the game is different, heroes ebb and flow, and carries suddenly get "new" skills and abilities.

2019
It is a new Dota this patch, the river got wider and longer, and now there are no more side shops, which makes your courier all the more pityful as it has to ferry you items from the main store each time you want to buy something that is not from the secret shop. Neutrals drop items which may potentially boost your attack/defence. Outposts gives you exp and a free teleportation spot to tp to. Snapfire is just awesome to play with as she has close combat as well as long range artillery,

This is not Dota 2 as you know it from the previous patches. This is Dota 3.
